I can’t recall a WWE home video release with as much buzz as the first WWE Wrestling’s Greatest Rivalries DVD. The first video will feature Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart. Chapters and match listings have been leaked and on paper, it appears that this will be a WWE holiday hit this season.
Silvervision, a WWE home video retailer out of the United Kingdom has posted chapter titles and matches on the upcoming Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels DVD. According to the listing, the DVD will be a three-disc set and loaded with great matches from the WWE catalog.
For those of you unaware, this will be the first in a series of WWE home videos. The idea is to get two classic WWE rivals, sit them down, and have them discuss their rivalries in and out of the ring with a moderator. Jim Ross got the call on this one and it would appear that almost nothing is off limits from the looks of the early advertisement.
[adinserter block=”2″]I think that this is a fantastic and long overdue idea for the WWE. It is hardly original as my old buddies at RF Video have been doing a series of face-offs for awhile, as well as Kayfabe Commentaries. However, it will be the first time that the WWE will do anything this intricate with former stars. I don’t think it gets much better than kicking off your series with Bret and Shawn.
Here are the chapters as listed on the Silvervision website.
Disc 1
San Antonio vs. Calgary
The Rockers vs. The Hart Foundation
Heartbreak Kid vs.The Hit Man
Intercontinental Champion vs. WWE Champion
Showstopper vs. Excellence of Execution
Progressive vs. Traditional
Fantasy vs. Reality
Respect vs. Trust
Redemption vs. Reconciliation
Hope vs. Peace
I think it goes without saying that the draw to this DVD will be their discussion on the infamous Montreal Screwjob from the 1997 Survivor Series. I wouldn’t expect anything earth shattering as Shawn Michaels has already apologized and copped a guilty plea. It would appear that these two have moved passed it, but you never know with Bret. He does appear to remain a bit touchy whenever it is brought up by fans.
The match listing is fantastic. I grew up at the beginning and peak of their rivalry and they had some phenomenal matches. Of course if you are like me you have probably seen most of the matches on the DVD compilation. Yet, it is still nice to see the matches a couple of decades later in DVD and Blu-ray quality.

I think this DVD along with Stone Cold's new biographical DVD that he was 100% hands-on with will both be damn good. Rumor has it there will be an Austin/Rock rivalry DVD as well, which sounds highly promising.
While an Austin/Rock rivalry would be damn good, I'd love to see an Austin/McMahon DVD set.
They already made one of those.
