WWE Wrestler of the Week is back with another difficult decision as four different superstars earned a 2-0 record this week. Two of these superstars, Randy Orton and Sheamus, were victorious in two tag team matches on Raw and Smackdown respectively. Clearly, WWE is building these two up for their match against The Shield at WrestleMania 29.
[adinserter block=”1″]With the third member of their team not official yet, Sheamus and Orton have formed the Celtic Vipers. They could actually be a legitimate tag team in the WWE, but their opponents this week were less than impressive. On Smackdown, the Celtic Vipers defeated Team Rhodes Scholars. It continues to baffle me why Rhodes and Sandow have become a jobber tag team so it was obvious Sheamus and Orton would walk away with the win. On Raw, the Celtic Vipers defeated another jobber tag team in 3MB. Once again, just another showcase of the team as they prepare to take down The Shield, but I think WWE should seriously consider the Celtic Vipers for the tag team division.
Another superstar with a 2-0 record this week was Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett. The leader of the Barrett Barrage has been one of those champions who constantly loses. It is one of those weird situations WWE does that baffles all of the fans. In any case, Barrett won an impressive triple threat match on Raw against two former champions in The Miz and Chris Jericho. Prior to this match, it seemed as though we would witness a set up to a WrestleMania match between Barrett and one of the challengers.
If Miz or Jericho won the title, Barrett could have invoked his rematch clause for WrestleMania. With Barrett winning though, it is unclear who he will face at the show of shows with less than three weeks until WrestleMania. Chances are it will be the Miz since both were recently in WWE Studios films and Jericho may have begun a story with Fandango. Barrett was also victorious on Main Event against R-Truth, but that should not surprise anyone.
The final superstar with a 2-0 record this week was Mr. Money in the Bank Dolph Ziggler. He is another superstar who has been losing more matches than he probably should. This week, Ziggler defeated WWE Tag Team Champion Kane, which also involved an attack from Big E Langston. This was the second time Ziggler and Langston defeated and attacked a tag team champion as they did the same to Daniel Bryan the Raw before. These attacks led to the WrestleMania match between the two teams becoming official. Ziggler defeated Kofi Kingston on Raw for what seemed like the millionth time.
Ziggler could have faced anyone on Raw so I am not sure why we saw Kingston again. In any case, Ziggler’s upcoming tag team title match raises a lot of questions. Some fans may question why Ziggler is in the match when he should be World Heavyweight Champion. This tag team title match actually does a lot for both Ziggler and Langston. Ziggler’s bodyguard will make history by having his first match on the main roster at WrestleMania. Ziggler could benefit greatly as well by leaving WrestleMania with two titles.
[adinserter block=”2″]All of these superstars had impressive weeks, but I would say Barrett and Ziggler’s were more notable than the Celtic Vipers. Both Barrett and Ziggler had been booked poorly up until now, plus their opponents are much higher up on the card than those of the Celtic Vipers.
