WWE WrestleMania 30 Card Takes Shape

With just a few weeks to go it appears that the WWE has their main WrestleMania 30 card set. The annual extravaganza will deviate from past events that featured names from the past and in an effort to launch the next generation of WWE superstars.

For the first time in several years there is no big outside hook on the show other than Hulk Hogan hosting the event. The Rock will be absent after making three consecutive appearances and no celebrity names have surfaced up to this point. The WWE will build on its foundation and use the 30th anniversary event as more of a transitional show in hopes of boosting the stars of the future.

Daniel Bryan will have a large part on this year’s show. Bryan will have more focus on him than any other star on the roster including John Cena. A long way from an 18-second appearance just a couple fo years ago wouldn’t you say? Bryan will likely be a part of the headliner which features Randy Orton vs. Batista vs. the winner of Bryan vs. Triple H. The WWE championship match will likely close the show, giving fans a special WrestleMania moment featuring Bryan winning the gold and 60,000+ screaming “Yes!”

Bryan will have to do battle early in the show with adversary Triple H. I am real pumped about this match. I think this match has the potential to be a lot of fun. Hunter is better than anyone on the roster of crafting a match that will exploit the pro-Bryan crowd. This has the potential to be one of the most emotional Mania matches in years. I would be surprised to see anything but a Bryan win yet the predictability here has me thinking that we’ll see a couple of swerves along the way.

Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker is considered by some to be the main-event. I am surprised that the company hasn’t played up the worked confrontation the two had a few years back at a UFC show. This one has already had some great build and should make for another emotional match. I expect a lot of physicality here from both men. I don’t expect the streak to end yet like the Hunter vs. Bryan match, I expect a lot of emotional swerves up to the finish. It should be a great one.

John Cena takes on Bray Wyatt in one of the strangest Cena WrestleMania bookings in years. Cena is taking a backseat on a WrestleMania for the first time in several years. The sacrifice here allows the WWE to elevate Wyatt to a potential top heel spot. Cena can be hit or miss but I expect a hit here. I think there is enough intrigue to craft a good story. I like Cena getting the win but Wyatt has to get over here or the match is just a big waste of time.

The Shield will meet Kane for the second year in a row but this time it will be in a six-man tag team match. Kane will team with the New Age Outlaws to wrestle The Shield. Personally I think this is a gigantic waste of The Shield. They are too good to be wasted here. I’d rather see them against Kane and Harper and Rowan as opposed to the Outlaws.

That’s it for the main card. The rest of the card will have the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, a WWE tag team championship match, a Divas match, and probably something else. All in all it’s not exactly what I’d call WrestleMania 30-worthy but it should be an entertaining night nonetheless.
