WWE Tables, Ladders, & Chairs 2011 is just two weeks away and like belts falling off of a ladder, the main card is starting to fall into place. While most of your usual suspects are matched as expected, one name is curiously absent from the lineup.
As it stands right now, John Cena is without a match on WWE TLC. Now I can’t imagine that many of those hardcore pro wrestling fans in Baltimore are too upset about this, yet it is odd that the company’s top gun has nothing to do on December 18.
Here is how the card shapes up today although I think it goes without saying in 2011 WWE booking, card subject to change.
[ad 6]The Miz vs. Alberto Del Rio vs. CM Punk in a TLC match for the WWE championship will be the show headliner. In other words you have the guy that lost in last month’s main event and last week on RAW and the guy who got pinned at Survivor Series and hasn’t won a singles match on pay per view since April 3 at WrestleMania 27 challenging for the WWE championship. Yep, and WWE brass wonder why their “B” show pay per view business is down?
I don’t think it will be a bad match, it just doesn’t make a whole lot of sense right now. On top of the lack of logic, CM Punk has beaten The Miz and Del Rio on television several times over the last few months, and laid them both out this past Monday. Once again this circles back to the WWE’s lack of longterm booking and their lack of foresight in booking undercard guys throughout the year.
Mark Henry vs. The Big Show for the WWE world heavyweight championship in a…well, nothing has been stipulated yet. I have no problem seeing these two giants wrestle one more time. I think this feud needs to end on this night, but wrapping up the series at TLC is fine with me. The announcers are pushing the idea that Henry is hurt and vulnerable, so if Show doesn’t win, it would make him look pretty weak in my opinion for not being able to defeat a champion who is less than 100%.
A chair’s stipulation is expected to be added to the match at some point.
Triple H vs. Kevin Nash in a Ladder Match with a sledgehammer suspended above the ring will probably turn into the featured match here. I am not as big of a Triple H hater as some people are, although I am right on board the Kevin Nash hate train. I have no idea why the WWE would recreate this feud after it was such a bomb several years ago. Nash came out on RAW Monday night and you could hear a pin drop. The guy is just not over. I think his start and stop has really hurt him here, not that missing medicals was necessarily his fault. Triple H has had a run of good-decent matches over the last year or so. He is going to need a miracle to keep this one going at TLC 2011.
These guys will have a sledgehammer suspended above the ring, retrieved only by climbing a ladder. Seeing Kevin Nash climb a ladder could be well worth the $40-50 for TLC. I just think it is a bit odd to start putting over the sledgehammer again given that CM Punk pretty much exposed it as a fraud in a promo during his feud with The Game.
[adinserter block=”1″]Zack Ryder vs. Dolph Ziggler for the U.S. championship will also go down at TLC. I am surprised that this one hasn’t gotten a TLC stipulation due to the athleticism of the guys involved. I am not feeling the Zack Ryder love as much as some people, although I am becoming a bigger fan of Ziggler by the week. I think fans are in for a solid match here.
