WWE Survivor Series Predictions and Preview

A year on from one of the best main events in Survivor Series history, a somewhat underwhelming card is entirely dominated by the tournament for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Last minute additions and a traditional tag team match that doesn’t even have one participant announced as of yet (this was written on SUNDAY MORNING) makes this event seem like they just haven’t come up with alternatives since the injury of Seth Rollins. Still, the action should be good throughout, and here is what I think will go down.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Tournament

Roman Reigns vs Alberto Del Rio (United States Champion) in the semi final

The more predictable semi-final of the tournament, as Roman Reigns continues his climb to the very top. I’m fairly happy that ADR has made it this far as it (finally) makes a champion seem strong by having them win singles matches. However, there’s no way he goes over Reigns here. Reigns was the original number one contender before Seth Rollins had to vacate the title, so it is a certainty that he will at least make the final of this tournament. A lot of people have been calling for a surprise to be thrown into the tournament, but this match shouldn’t be that time. Just over 10 minutes of hard hitting action and Reigns wins with a spear.

Prediction – Roman Reigns wins

Dean Ambrose vs Kevin Owens (Intercontinental Champion) in the semi final

This match is a lot harder to predict. All things point to an incredible match between Reigns and Ambrose in the final where one turns on the other to become the company’s top heel. However, Kevin Owens is already a fantastic heel, and he has been booked very well since he debuted on the main roster, so Owens could easily be elevated to the top heel role and become a double champion. It really is a difficult one to predict, but I do think Ambrose will defeat Owens. I don’t think it will be a great finish, maybe a roll-up gives Ambrose the win, but I think he will make it to the final. I’m expecting over 15 minutes of an absolute classic, with near falls and big moves, with Ambrose sneaking the victory.

Prediction – Dean Ambrose wins

Roman Reigns vs Dean Ambrose for the WWE World Heavyweight Champion

So, I’m predicting Reigns and Ambrose to both go through to the final, where there will be an absolute war between two brothers. They will both show each other respect before but will both put that aside during the match. Back and forward action, near fall after near fall, both kicking out of each other’s finisher. 20 minutes will fly by before Reigns hits another Spear and wins the match. Roman Reigns is the NEWWWWW…. Then, the music hits, and out comes…. SHEAMUS! HHH sends him out because Reigns refused to align himself with the Authority, and Sheamus cashes in. Sheamus hits the Brogue Kick, but only gets a 2 count. Goes for another, Reigns ducks and hits a Spear and defeats Sheamus. Roman Reigns leaves Survivor Series the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, and Reigns and Ambrose remain friends… for now.

Prediction – Roman Reigns wins and Sheamus unsuccessfully cashes in. Roman Reigns becomes the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion

Rest of the Card

Tyler Breeze vs Dolph Ziggler

A year on from his sensational victory against the Authority (thanks Sting), Dolph Ziggler should lose a singles match against a new man on the scene. After last year’s show, there’s no way Ziggler should even be in a match like this, but, because he is, he must put the new talent over. Breeze has just arrived, and a big win over an established star is just what he needs to push himself forward. Defeat here, and Breeze almost immediately loses a lot of credibility with the universe. And I don’t think that’ll happen. Enough time, and a fast paced match will see Breeze win on his PPV debut.

Prediction – Tyler Breeze wins

Charlotte (Divas Champion) vs Paige for the Divas Championship

Part of me is thinking, Charlotte has just won the title. She is too early into her reign to drop it already and Paige isn’t the best candidate to win it from her anyway (how you doing Sasha and Becky?). But then, I also think Charlotte hasn’t taken the title and run yet, and Paige has been getting great reactions since her recent heel turn, so it is a chance to let Paige take it off her while Charlotte drops off and goes through a little character development. However, I think, for now, Charlotte will remain champion. I think the two will have a good match, far from a classic however, with Charlotte making Paige tap out. I do also hope that these two continue their feud beyond Survivor Series, and they get the chance to take part in a gimmick match at TLC, that the women just never get to do.

Prediction – Charlotte wins by submission and retains the Divas Championship

Undertaker and Kane vs Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman

So, instead of the families colliding and The Brothers of Destruction adding some surprise partners, we have a tag team match. Underwhelming, to say the least. There’s no way Harper and Rowan won’t get involved anyway, so I’m not sure why this isn’t a traditional Survivor Series match. For the match itself, it seems Bray Wyatt’s promos will be for nothing again. On the 25th anniversary of the Deadman, on the return of the Brothers of Destruction, there’s no way the Wyatt Family go over them. The whole night will be about the Undertaker and his career, which means there is surely no chance the Wyatts ruin the night. It will be a great tribute all night to one of the best of all time, and a victory to celebrate 25 fantastic years. Thank You Taker.

Prediction – Undertaker and Kane win

Traditional 5-on-5 Survivor Series match

Easily the most difficult match on the card, because I have no idea who is even going to be involved. I’ve tried to wait before making my predictions so I know who will be involved, but even at this late stage we have no idea. I think the certain bets are the Usos and the New Day, on opposing teams of course. They are starting a feud together, and they don’t have a match on the card, so it seems exceptionally likely to happen. But who will team with them? Well, on the Usos’ team, I have a feeling we will see Cesaro and Neville. It would be absurd for them to be left off the card, and, in a meaningless match, they will add a bit of excitement with their fantastic arsenals. That leaves one more spot, and that spot will be the man who continues to dismantle the New Day, Ryback. On the side of the New Day then, it wouldn’t surprise me if we see Sheamus and King Barrett, although it is also a possibility we see Stardust. Only because they will serve to be essentially jobbers in the match, I’ll go with the formers. A match with terrible build, it will probably be exciting and entertaining because of the men that are involved. it certainly won’t be remembered like the same match was last year.

Prediction – Usos, Cesaro, Neville and Ryback vs the New Day, Sheamus and King Barrett. Cesaro, Ryback and one of the Usos will be the survivors.

George Carlo

My name is George Carlo and I am nineteen years old. I have been following wrestling for over ten years and very rarely miss any of the main broadcast shows. My favorite superstars on the current roster are Bray Wyatt, Kevin Owens and Cesaro. My favorites of all time are The Undertaker, Stone Cold and Sting. I live in the UK so I don’t get to go to as many WWE events as I would like to, but I have been a few times when the company has toured here, most recently the episode of Monday Night Raw that was shown from London in May 2014. I also have a strong admiration for writing articles.
