WWE Survivor Series 2013 Predictions and Preview

This Sunday marks the 27th annual WWE Survivor Series and it wasn’t until this past Raw that the card was looking complete. Prior to Monday, there weren’t any traditional Survivor Series elimination tag team matches on the card. How sad is that? But in typical WWE 2013 fashion, they took care of it at the last minute. There may not be very exciting world title matches happening, but the return of Rey Mysterio almost makes up for it. The keyword is almost.

[adinserter block=”1″]With that said, here are my predictions for each match.

Kickoff Match: The Miz vs. Kofi Kingston

The Miz has returned to the dark side once again when he turned on tag team partner Kofi Kingston on the go home episode of Raw. Now the two will face off in the pre-show match of Survivor Series. This is the best scenario for Miz as he was not accomplishing enough as a babyface. Although I thought Miz being a good guy would be beneficial for WWE with all that he does outside of the ring, the booking of his character failed. Thus, perhaps Miz can have another good run as a heel like he did in 2010-2011. Regardless, the best way to start the next chapter in Miz’s career is with a win against Kofi. Otherwise, this turn was just a big waste.

Prediction: The Miz wins

Intercontinental Championship: Big E Langston © vs. Curtis Axel

Big E Langston has finally achieved championship glory in WWE as he defeated Curtis Axel for the Intercontinental title on Raw. This was a great move by WWE as Axel was still very boring and stale. Especially with Paul Heyman gone. Axel hit his ceiling as Intercontinental Champion while with Heyman. He will never surpass that stage with or without a manager. Now WWE puts the belt on Langston who has been very impressive since day one. I think he wasn’t particularly effective as a heel bodyguard. He rarely actually helped AJ Lee. But now as a face, he can show off his strength and humor. His character is what WWE should have done with Ryback. They should have built him up and let him go through a midcard championship. Instead, WWE forced Ryback into a world title scene and his career has been downhill ever since. With all this said, Langston must hold onto the belt in order to keep the momentum and rid us of another pointless reign by Axel.

Prediction: Big E Langston retains

Team Total Divas vs. Divas Champion AJ Lee, Tamina, Kaitlyn, Rosa, Summer Rae, Aksana and Alicia Fox

Natalya, The Funkadactyls, The Bella Twins, Eva Marie and JoJo team up to represent Total Divas against pretty much the rest of the division. Total Divas has been a huge success for WWE and thus that team will win. I am just curious if JoJo will actually wrestle. I think she is still under 21 so I don’t think she will actually make it inside the ring. With that said, here is the order of elimination I predict: Aksana, Rosa, Alicia Fox, Summer Rae, Kaitlyn, Tamina and AJ Lee. I think it will be down to all of the Total Divas against AJ at the end. Chances are Natalya will finish it with a sharpshooter.

Prediction: All Total Divas wins

WWE Tag Team Champions Goldust and Cody Rhodes, The Usos and Rey Mysterio vs. The Shield and the Real Americans (Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team Match)

It was very surprising to see Rey Mysterio return on Raw and be placed in this match, despite the rumblings of his return happening eventually. Not to mention he joined the Spanish announce table once recently. Unfortunately though, I see the Shield’s team being a bit more successful in this match. No one on Rey’s team needs to win. In the past, the Survivors have been up and coming or already established big names. Here is the order of eliminations that I predict: Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso, Jack Swagger, Goldust, Cody Rhodes, Antonio Cesaro, Rey Mysterio. I predict the three members of the Shield will be the only survivors.

Predictions: Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins survive.

CM Punk and Daniel Bryan vs. Erick Rowan and Luke Harper

Finally CM Punk is done with the Paul Heyman feud and this match should be one of the more exciting and impressive contests. Harper seems to be popular among WWE management as evident by the fact that he is the one facing Bryan and Punk in singles competition. While the Wyatt Family had a great run at first, they have been losing steam. Not in popularity sense, but winning wise. I also think Punk and Bryan as a tag team is money. Money I say. The one question mark here is Bray Wyatt who is not technically on the card. However, he will certainly be in Harper and Rowan’s corner and will get involved. As much as I’d like to see Punk and Bryan win, I think Wyatts get it with Bray’s help.

Prediction: Erick Rowan and Luke Harper win

World Heavyweight Championship: John Cena © vs. Alberto Del Rio

Alberto Del Rio gets his rematch for the World Heavyweight Championship, but does anyone seriously think he will win? I hope not. WWE had Sandow lose Money in the Bank so that Cena could remain champion. WWE has Cena acting like he’s still injured so when he wins he is rising above. I hope Sandow makes an appearance during or after this match. Cena should feud with him next. He proved during their match that he should be in the title picture. The only thing worse than Del Rio as champion is Del Rio continuously challenging for and losing the title.

Prediction: John Cena retains

WWE Championship: Randy Orton © vs. Big Show

[adinserter block=”1″]Like Alberto Del Rio, does anyone think Big Show is winning the WWE title? I will give this match some credit though – it’s more interesting than Cena versus Del Rio. The crowd has been very supportive of Big Show through this feud. Although many people probably want to see Daniel Bryan or CM Punk in this situation, I have been impressed with Big Show’s crowd reaction. Another point in this feud that makes Sunday interesting is Triple H and Stephanie’s wishy washy feelings towards Randy Orton. Usually they fully support him, but then they question whether or not he should be the face of WWE. I hope to be surprised. Perhaps Big Show will become the corporate champion. If I had to make a bet though, I’d stick with Orton as champion.

Prediction: Randy Orton retains
