WWE SummerSlam Preview and Predictions

WWE SummerSlam I was asked about a week or so ago from Eric Gargiulo to write up an article on my predictions and highlights for SummerSlam this Sunday. So, here it is, and I hope you all enjoy.

WWE Championship Match: Randy Orton (Champ) v. John Cena
To me, the same old match, and a great match for me to clean up the apartment early for hosting a SummerSlam party. Me personally, I really don’t care for this match because these two men and Triple H are always in the main event of every pay-per-view, and I believe that Raw isn’t doing anything different between each pay-per-view for their main events. My prediction for this match is that I hope this will be the beginning of the end of the same three men in the main event picture for Raw. The winner has to be John Cena, I don’t know.

TLC Match for the World Heavyweight Championship: Jeff Hardy (Champ) v. C.M. Punk
A main event that I feel like the WWE is actually doing right for once, and that’s putting two new stars in the main event spot (unlike the Raw Main Event). Jeff Hardy, now a three-time World Champion, two of which with the World Heavyweight title, once with the WWE title.

C.M. Punk, a two time World Champion, both times with the World Heavyweight title, and won the second title from Hardy at Extreme Rules, after cashing in the ‘Money in the Bank’ briefcase. A match that I am looking forward to because when done right, which it does seem like they are doing, could be a show-stealing match. I predict for Punk to win the title back at SummerSlam, due in part that Hardy wants time off.

Intercontinental Championship Match: Rey Mysterio (Champ) v. Dolph Ziggler
The first match of their feud started the pay-per-view before at Night of Champions, where Ziggler lost his first IC title match against Mysterio. If this match will be like their match then, and if it’s anything like the great series that Mysterio came off of with Jericho, this match is a must-see match, and I’m looking forward to it. I predict Dolph Ziggler to get his push here at SummerSlam, against Rey Mysterio, and with the Intercontinental Championship.

D-Generation X (HBK and HHH) v. Legacy (DiBiase and Rhodes)
One of two tag team matches on the card, and I’m excited to see (and I hope) that the WWE would have the veterans put over the new stars at SummerSlam. Also, Shawn Michaels is returning to in-ring action since WrestleMania XXV. I am sure this will be a show-stealing match (at least I do hope), and I do hope that Legacy gets a rub that they deserve. I do hope that Legacy wins, but I do predict that DX is going to take this one home.

Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship Match: Big Show/Chris Jericho (Champs) v. Cryme Tyme
Another match on the card of a tag team match, with veterans facing new talent, and I do hope that Big Show and Chris Jericho do help put over Cryme Tyme at SummerSlam. It was at the Night of Champions where we found out that Big Show is filling in for Edge as Jericho’s tag partner as Undisputed Tag Team Champion, and the night after on Raw, they lost to Cryme Tyme.

On Smackdown, they won a number one contenders match to face the champs at SummerSlam. I hope that the champs help put over the challengers, because the challengers are the new faces of pro wrestling in the future. I predict Big Show and Chris Jericho retain the titles at SummerSlam.

To conclude, these are my predictions for the bigger five matches at SummerSlam, let’s see if I do well on my predictions. This is Eric Darsie from Minnesota, making predictions, goodbye!
