WWE Summerslam 2016 is this weekend, August 21, 2106, live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. The Summerslam 2016 card features eleven matches in total with every title being defended. It also features the epic showdown of Randy Orton and Brock Lesnar, the crowning of a new Universal Champion and more than a few grudge matches between long time feuding rivals.

Before getting into Summerslam 2016 predictions, here’s the official matches (for now, because you never know) for the show.

WWE SummerSlam 2016 Matches

Finn Balor vs Seth Rollins – WWE Universal Championship

Dean Ambrose vs Dolph Ziggler – WWE World Championship

Rusev vs Roman Reigns – United States Championship

Sasha Banks vs Charlotte – WWE Women’s Championship (Dana Brooke Barred)

The New Day vs Gallows and Anderson – WWE Tag Team Championship

The Miz vs Apollo Crews – WWE Intercontinental Championship

Brock Lesnar vs Randy Orton

Enzo Amore & Big Cass vs Chris Jericho & Kevin Owens

John Cena vs AJ Styles

Sheamus vs Cesaro

Carmella, Becky Lynch, Naomi vs Nattie & Alexa Bliss

WWE SummerSlam 2016 Predictions

Carmella, Becky Lynch, Naomi vs Nattie & Alexa Bliss

This match has turned into a handicap showdown with Eve Marie being suspended for a violating the WWE Wellness Policy. There’s a chance Nattie and Alexa could find a last minute partner, possibly a returning Nikki Bella who’s now cleared to wrestle.

PREDICTION: Carmella, Becky Lynch, Naomi

Sheamus vs Cesaro

The buildup to this match was quick and hopefully the match will be the same. Sheamus is in dire need a character change or role in the company while Cesaro has bumped his head on the glass ceiling so many times it’s a wonder he doesn’t have a permanent concussion.

PREDICTION: Cesaro

John Cena vs AJ Styles

We all know Cena will come out on top in this war but this might be a battle AJ Styles pulls off. Cena is once again scheduled to take a significant amount of time off.

PREDICTION: AJ Styles

Enzo Amore & Big Cass vs Chris Jericho & Kevin Owens

The Jericho and Owens bromance is fun but it will only last for so long. It will probably break up after losing this match to the white hot Cass and Enzo. The breakup will lead to a program between the two and the Cass and Enzo win means a shot at the WWE Tag Team Championships at the next PPV.

PREDICTION: Enzo and Big Cass

Brock Lesnar vs Randy Orton

This one will be entertaining, ugly and possibly stiff. Lesnar sometimes takes liberties with his opponents but Orton isn’t the guy you want to screw with and not just because of the RKO.

PREDICTION: Randy Orton barely walks out alive

The Miz vs Apollo Crews

Another PPV and another Miz title defense/title shot. How the hell does this guy do it? He’s perpetually in some title picture. Thankfully it’s never the world title. WWE is high on Crews and Miz doesn’t really need a belt because he’ll find a way to get one back eventually.

PREDICTION: Apollo Crews is new IC champ

The New Day vs Gallows and Anderson

Gallows and Anderson should walk out with the titles but The New Day could hang on just for the potential of a New Day vs. Enzo and Cass feud/mic off.

PREDICTION: New Day retains

Sasha Banks vs Charlotte

This feud kind of lost something when 1) Ric Flair and Charlotte were broken up and 2) Sasha realized her dream on a random episode of Raw and not at the second biggest PPV of the year.

PREDICTION: Charlotte wins it back

Rusev vs Roman Reigns

These two just went for 20+ minutes on Raw. I’m not sure what is left to do at the PPV except for Reigns to once again begin his ascent to the top babyface of the company.

PREDICTION: Roman Reigns wins US Title

Dean Ambrose vs Dolph Ziggler

Ambrose is allegedly in the doghouse for questioning the WWE’s creative ideas. It’s always fascinating when a guy applauded for “speaking his mind” and “being real” and billed as a “lunatic” lives up to his name and then gets crap for it. Ziggler has been a tossed around  — literally and figuratively — for well over a year. The original reason he didn’t get to hold the world title again was because of concussion concerns. He’s been healthy for a while. It might be his time.

PREDICTION: Dolph Ziggler is the new World Champ

Finn Balor vs Seth Rollins

The WWE totally crapped the bed by debuting the Demon King on Raw. That said, this will probably be the match of the night, unless Ambrose and Ziggler bump like there’s no tomorrow. Let’s put it this way — the WWE was obviously concerned about Balor drawing in the main event so they debuted his alter ego early, do you honestly think they believe he’s ready to hold a world title?

PREDICTION: Rollins wins first WWE Universal Title
