WWE Royal Rumble 2017 Full Booking Simulation

[adinserter block=”4″]

We now know roughly 20 of the competitors for this year’s Royal Rumble and the rest are pretty superfluous to the overall result so a semi-accurate depiction of what the elimination match could look like is now possible. This article will attempt to book the Rumble Match from entrant one to entrant 30, set up WrestleMania feuds and make the match as interesting as possible. The only superstars who will not be competing in the match are anyone already booked for a match and anyone with an injury. This means no Finn Balor or Shelton Benjamin.

This match is predicated on Kevin Owens defeating Roman Reigns and retaining the Universal Championship. The Styles/Cena match can go either way.

Entrant 1: Dolph Ziggler

Ziggler is the perfect person to kick the Rumble off and can carry the first part of the match as a heel. With Lawler on commentary this becomes even more intriguing.

Entrant 2: Kofi Kingston

Kofi takes the number two spot as a guy who can carry the match.

Entrant 3: Rusev

A lack of mid-card heels makes this match quite hard to book. See if it plays out similarly throughout the real thing. Rusev and Dolph gang up on Kofi.

Entrant 4: Rhyno

Out comes Rhyno to even the numbers.

Entrant 5: Noam Dar

Have Dar earn a spot in the Rumble with a victory over Cedric Alexander on 205Live.

Entrant 6: Heath Slater

Slater and Rhyno gang up on Rusev.

Entrant 7: Sheamus

The former SmackDown Tag Team Champions eliminate Noam Dar before Rusev comes after them again, Rusev tosses Rhyno over the top rope, but he lands on the apron. Slater charges at Rusev who dodges out of the way, causing Slater to eliminate Rhyno. Rhyno looks annoyed and Slater tries to explain what happened, but Ziggler throws Heath out from behind. Rhyno walks off in a huff.

Elimination 1: Noam Dar by Heath Slater and Rhyno

Elimination 2: Rhyno by Heath Slater

Elimination 3: Heath Slater by Dolph Ziggler

Entrant 8: Dean Ambrose

Sheamus and Kofi go at each other in one corner while Ambrose targets Ziggler.

Entrant 9: Xavier Woods

Expect the Dillinger chants to take over this countdown, and as it reaches zero…

Entrant 10: The Miz

If there’s anyone who can capitalise on taking Dillinger’s spot, it’s The Miz. He takes his time getting to the ring, alternating between Dillinger and Bryan chants.

Entrant 11: Tye Dillinger

This is the fake-out that needs to happen. Sending Dillinger out at 11 will get a far bigger pop. Tye hits his finisher on The Miz (who rolls out of the ring), before being swiftly dropped by Ziggler. Ambrose hits a Dirty Deeds on Dolph and Rusev a superkick on Ambrose. Everyone is down as the buzzer goes.

Update on those still in the match: Tye Dillinger, The Miz, Xavier Woods, Dean Ambrose, Sheamus, Rusev, Kofi Kingston and Dolph Ziggler

Entrant 12: James Ellsworth

Ellsworth takes his time getting to the ring, accompanied by Carmella. He looks around and sees everyone laid out. Xavier slowly gets to his knees and James hits him with no-chin music before running around the ring celebrating. He climbs the top rope and raises his arms in triumph…

Entrant 13: Braun Strowman

Strowman’s music hits and Ellsworth jumps off the top rope, eliminating himself. He runs through the crowd to escape Braun. Strowman goes on a warpath, tossing out both members of the New Day easily. Sheamus offers some fight, but Braun throws him out too. He leaves everyone else in the ring laying.

Elimination 8: Big E by Braun Strowman

Elimination 9: Rusev by Braun Strowman

Entrant 15: Big Show

This part books itself. Show and Strowman go at it for a full 90 seconds with neither able to finish the other off. Everyone else stays in the corners and out of the way. Big Show has abs now – he can hang with Braun.

Entrant 16: Sami Zayn

Sami charges the ring, climbs the top rope and jumps on Strowman’s back. Ambrose and Dillinger get back involved and everyone gangs up on him. Strowman fends them off, but Show grabs him by the throat and both big-men end up on the apron. Braun breaks free of Show’s grip and shoves him off – eliminating the giant. Braun turns around straight into a Sami Zayn helluva kick. He staggers but holds his balance. Zayn hits a second one and Braun is eliminated. Enraged, Strowman attacks Big Show on the outside until refs get him out of the area.

Entrant 17: Luke Harper

Harper comes out amongst the madness.

Entrant 18: The Brian Kendrick

Now we need to fill the ring back up. Kendrick qualifies for the match with a win over Lince Dorado.

Entrant 19: Baron Corbin

Corbin’s music hits and Corey Graves talks him up as one of the favourites to win the whole thing, especially with Strowman now out. Corbin eliminates Dillinger… the crowd will love that.

Elimination 13: Baron Corbin by Goldberg

Elimination 14: The Brian Kendrick by Goldberg

Entrant 21: Kane

Out comes Kane and he and Goldberg stare each other down. The two go at it for the full 90 seconds as everyone else does their best not to get involved. Goldberg spears Kane on the buzzer.

Entrant 22: Brock Lesnar

Business now picks up. Brock stares his foe down from outside the ring. Ziggler jumps on Goldberg’s back, but is overpowered and eliminated. In Goldberg’s momentary distraction, Lesnar hits the ring and takes him down with suplexes. Brock clotheslines Goldberg over and out of the Rumble match. Enraged, Goldberg gets back in and spears Brock before hitting him with a jackhammer. Goldberg shakes his head and leaves. Brock is down as the buzzer goes…

Elimination 15: Dolph Ziggler by Goldberg

Elimination 16: Goldberg by Brock Lesnar

Entrant 23: Samoa Joe

And Joe’s music hits… With a smile on his face, he enters the ring as Brock attempts to pull himself to a vertical base. Joe tosses the dazed beast out – making an immediate impact.

Elimination 17: Brock Lesnar by Samoa Joe

Entrant 24: Bray Wyatt

Bray is next out and he and Harper gang up on Joe as well as everyone else and take control of the match.

Update on those still in the match: Bray Wyatt, Samoa Joe, Kane, Luke Harper, Sami Zayn, The Miz and Dean Ambrose

Entrant 25: Tyler Bate

The United Kingdom Champion comes out at 25 and gets some good offense in on everyone. Putting Bate in this match helps give casual fans a glimpse of what they’re missing.

Entrant 26: Randy Orton

The Wyatt Family, which has sort of gotten on the same page, is now complete and the stable gangs up on everyone, eliminating Kane. Bray hits a Sister Abigail on Joe as the buzzer goes.

Elimination 19: Kane by Bray Wyatt

Entrant 27: Seth Rollins

Seth goes straight for Bray and gets a few good shots on him, before Randy and Harper gang up on him. Ambrose joins in and the two exchange a look of reluctant agreement and they fight back against the Wyatt’s. At some point, Orton goes to throw a punch that misses Seth and hits Harper… and everything breaks down. Bray tries to calm them down, but Ambrose takes Bray out of the situation and that leaves Harper and Randy yelling at each other. Randy tries to explain he didn’t mean to hit Luke, but Harper grabs Orton and tosses him over the ropes, eliminating the viper. Bray, stunned immediately eliminates Harper from behind.

Update on those still in the match: Seth Rollins, Tyler Bate, Samoa Joe, Bray Wyatt, The Miz, Sami Zayn and Dean Ambrose

Elimination 20: Randy Orton by Luke Harper

Elimination 21: Luke Harper by Bray Wyatt

Entrant 28: Chris Jericho

Jericho comes out with an oxygen bottle, still feeling the effects of the shark cage. He then reveals he was faking, slamming the bottle into Ambrose’s gut before hitting a codebreaker. He goes after Seth who hits a Pedigree on him. Rollins goes on a rampage, taking out Bate, Joe and Sami. He picks up Bray and is about to toss him out when Triple H attacks him from behind, eliminating Seth. He jumps out and begins wailing on Seth, he pulls the steps apart and hits a Pedigree on top of them.

Elimination 25: Dean Ambrose by The Miz

While Miz is gloating at his triumph, Joe lurks up behind him. Miz turns around straight into Joe who tosses him out.

Elimination 26: The Miz by Samoa Joe

Joe then goes after Zayn, tossing him over the top. He charges at Sami who pulls the top rope down, eliminating Joe. Jericho hits a drop kick on Sami, but he manages to hold onto the apron.

Elimination 27: Samoa Joe by Sami Zayn

The final three stare each other down as the WWE Universal Champion makes his way down to the ring to cheer on his best friend. Zayn runs at Owens, but eats a superkick. Owens gets in the ring and the best friends gang up on The Undertaker. Taker fights back, but is outgunned by the two of them and Jericho throws him out. The two embrace in a hug which is quickly broken up by Zayn hitting Owens with a helluva kick.

Elimination 28: The Undertaker by Chris Jericho

It dawns on Sami that he’s in the final two. It’s come down to two RAW superstars. The two go back and forth for a few minutes before Jericho dodges a helluva kick and sends Zayn over the top rope, eliminating him.

Elimination 29: Sami Zayn by Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho wins the Royal Rumble match, with help from Kevin Owens. This sets up Owens wanting Jericho to challenge AJ Styles/John Cena, but ends up leading to Owens versus Jericho at WrestleMania. We’ve begun the breakup of Heath Slater and Rhyno, Randy Orton leaving the Wyatt Family, breaking Bray and Harper up, debuting Joe and Dillinger, bringing Triple H back into the mix and setting up the final Lesnar/Goldberg encounter.
