WWE News and Rumors for the Week of November 18

This week an exciting series of developing headlines continues to peak the interest of WWE fans. Although many of the stories relate to speculation, these news items do raise some tantalizing possibilities:

Triple H Praises a UFC Star

Paul Levesque, also known to fans as “Triple H”, made headlines this week when he praised the abilities of one of the brightest (and most controversial) stars in the UFC, the outspoken and tough fighter Conor McGregor from Ireland. Triple H retired from the wrestling ring to become a talent recruiter for WWE. He possesses keen acumen in evaluating wrestling entertainers, so his assessments carry weight.

His appearance over the weekend at UFC 205 in New York generated a lot of media attention. Paul Levesque watched Conor McGregor prevail over American Eddie Alvarez during a brief two-round fight, and then told a British newspaper the Irish star possessed all the skills required to succeed in the WWE. This August, Conor McGregor had bragged in a tweet he could “slap the head off” all of the WWE’s wrestlers. Will the WWE roster obtain an opportunity to put Conor McGregor’s boasts to the test soon? Who knows?

WrestleMania Tickets Now Available For Presale

This week, fans hoping to attend WrestleMania 33 in Orlando on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at the Orlando Citrus Bowl obtained the opportunity to purchase presale tickets. The event has generated a buzz since last March. WrestleMania attracts a huge international crowd of fans (it generated over $100 million in revenue during the past four years alone) and will certainly bring new tourists to Orlando this spring. The WWE plans to offer a Sunday night pay-per-view special, and also an induction ceremony into the Hall of Fame and a televised Monday Night Raw show. The interactive WrestleMania Axxess event occurs during the entire weekend, too.

Cruiserweight Division Moves

Last week, fans learned the comparatively recently formed cruiserweight division would probably move from WWE Raw back to WWE Smackdown. This news will impact the fans following popular Cruiserweight Division stars such as T.J. Perkins, Noam Dar, Cedric Alexander, Tommaso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano, Brian Kendrick and others. Wrestlers hoping to compete in this category in the WWE must weigh 205 pounds or less. The Raw and Smackdown shows both form the two main weekly WWE television events. While audiences watch these shows on different days, both broadcasts reach a global market. The impact of the decision to relocate the Cruiserweight Division will impact the viewing times for the audience, but since most broadcasting markets today carry both WWE brands fans won’t miss any of the action!
