WWE Hall Of Fame 2013 Rumored Class

The WWE will be gearing up for one of the most anticipated Hall of Fame ceremonies in history next year. A list of rumored names promises some intriguing inductions WrestleMania 29 weekend in Madison Square Garden.

The Wrestling Observer has the list of names under consideration and it is an interesting list to say the least. I can’t say that there are many shockers although I would say there are a few surprises. Here is what the list looks like on paper, although it will probably greatly change by the time we get to the ceremony.

Bruno Sammartino and Owen Hart are both on the “wish list” so to speak but those are two long shots. Legal problems between Owen’s widow Martha and the WWE will probably prevent him from being inducted in 2013. While the idea of inducting Bruno in Madison Square Garden is a natural, it appears that Bruno still does not want to participate. This could change as reported meetings continue between all parties.

As someone that has spoken to Bruno on and off the record for years I can tell you that I highly doubt he will do it. I don’t doubt for a second that he would want to do it for his fans but the man just has such a personal dislike for Vince McMahon that I don’t see it happening. It is a shame because I think his fans would love the opportunity to honor him, but I think his public stance has kind of put him between a rock and a hard place. Speaking of rocks…

The Rock seems to be a favorite within the offices to headline this year’s ceremony. It certainly isn’t unheard of anymore to see an active wrestler inducted into the Hall of Fame. I can’t imagine anyone having an issue with this one. The Rock has a strong affinity for M.S.G. so the timing makes perfect sense. Is it too soon? Maybe, but he may not get another chance to get inducted in M.S.G. for at least another decade.

Mick Foley is another strong candidate and a virtual lock at this point. Like The Rock and Bruno, Foley being inducted in New York would be something special. Foley’s tales of going to M.S.G. to see wrestling as a fan are well known. As a big part of the Attitude Era, it is hard to argue against Foley going in whether it this year or another.

Two tag teams are also under consideration. The Nasty Boys and Harlem Heat are being talked about as possible Hall of Famers. Maybe it’s me but I have a feeling that plenty of people will blow a gasket at seeing Stevie Ray in as a Hall of Famer (especially before someone like Randy Savage or Owen Hart). The Nasty Boys on the other hand works for me. My hunch is that Knobbs would prefer to have his buddy Hulk Hogan do the induction. I wonder if there is even a slim chance that it happens.

WrestleZone.com also reports that Kevin Nash is under strong consideration. Nash did win his first world title in M.S.G. Again I can see a lot of people upset over this one. However, like him or not you can’t argue with the impact he had on the business in WCW. I think the n.W.o. gets in as a group someday, but not until Hogan is free and clear to appear at the ceremony.

So there you have it. Is anyone missing? There is always some kind of celebrity inducted so I would assume that one gets in this year. Nonetheless it looks like a fairly solid class if this is the way things go for the Hall of Fame in 2013.
