Pre Show – Kalisto vs Alberto Del Rio in a two out of three falls match for the United States Championship
What a way to make Kalisto’s reign feel important by demoting him to the pre-show already. Also, all the work John Cena put in elevating the title seems worthless now. This should be the culmination of this feud, with Kalisto retaining the title and going on to a different feud for Wrestlemania. These two are capable of a decent match, but I’m not sure they should be involved in a two out of three falls match. The match will go for over fifteen minutes, and, after both men have secured one fall, Kalisto will hit a Salida Del Sol and pick up the third and final fall of the match.
Prediction – Kalisto wins and retains the US Championship
Main Show – The Wyatt Family vs Big Show, Kane and Ryback
It is 2016 and this match is one the main show of the final PPV before Wrestlemania. Seriously, who wants this match? I would rather see Braun Strowman face Big Show in a one on one match that this. The Wyatt Family are absolutely going over in this match. Show, Kane and Ryback are almost definitely heading towards a meaningless spot in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal match at Wrestlemania so there’s absolutely no reason for them to even look strong in this match. The Wyatts are about to enter an interesting programme on the road to Wrestlemania, and they will start with a victory here. It won’t be their final appearance on the show, however.
Prediction – The Wyatt Family win
Kevin Owens vs Dolph Ziggler for the Intercontinental Title
Instead of this match, Dean Ambrose should have defended his title either against Owens in a final one on one match or the same fatal-five-way that occurred on Raw before going on to the main event. It would have got the fans behind Ambrose even more, and prevented us from having to see Owens and Ziggler square off for the 200th time this year already. Yes they are both great and have great chemistry but we have seen them face off too many times now and it is difficult to get excited for this match. Owens surely will go over seeing as he has just won the title back before going on to something fresh for Wrestlemania.
Prediction – Kevin Owens wins and retains the IC Championship
AJ Styles vs Chris Jericho
The rubber match and probably the final match of this feud. So far, both men have one win to their name, but both can take away that they have performed brilliantly in both matches. My prediction is that Styles will go over in this one, given that he only debuted at the Royal Rumble a month ago and realistically shouldn’t be losing his first singles match at a PPV. Jericho has been fantastic in this feud by building up Styles, and loses absolutely nothing in defeat. He has, if anything, looked better in this feud that he has in years. A Calf Crusher submission should end this match after a great ten minutes of action.
Prediction – AJ Styles wins
Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch vs Naomi and Tamina
The first of two women’s matches on this card, and this one has a story behind it to be invested in. Sasha broke off from her former friends to pursue a singles career, but they were unhappy at this and so wanted to punish her for leaving. Becky was also being targeted by Naomi and Tamina, and so Becky and Sasha made an agreement, not a friendship, to see off Naomi and Tamina. It’s refreshing to see an actual story develop. Becky and Sasha will definitely go over in this one, maybe setting them up for a triple threat with Charlotte at Wrestlemania for the Divas Championship.
Prediction – Sasha and Becky Lynch win
Charlotte vs Brie Bella for the Divas Championship
The credit I give to WWE for giving a story to the other women’s match on the card is almost tarnished by this match. After spending a couple of months using Brie as merely a jobber, she now has a title shot. Why? Because her sister is injured and her popular husband has retired. I understand the sentiment, but at the same time I find it ridiculous that WWE are essentially giving Brie Bella a pity title match because people she is related to are in the headlines. A title match that realistically she shouldn’t, and won’t, win either, as Charlotte is the right person to carry the title into Wrestlemania ahead of a match against one or two of her former NXT colleagues. Shame on you, WWE.
Prediction – Charlotte wins and retains the Divas Championship
Roman Reigns vs Dean Ambrose vs Brock Lesnar to determine who will face HHH at Wrestlemania for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship
Until Monday, it was Roman Reigns 100%. None of the other participants in the match stood a chance. It was Reigns that would face HHH and finally begin a long run as champion. And then, Dean Ambrose lost his Intercontinental title. And the winner became unpredictable. Reigns is still the favourite in my eyes, but now Ambrose doesn’t have a title, it opens up the opportunity of him winning this match. He has literally been the focal point of this entire feud so far, challenging Lesnar to fights and teasing breaking the friendship between himself and Reigns. There is an absolute chance of Ambrose leaving Sunday as the new number one contender, and in a month, he could become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. The whole tension of Ambrose and Reigns breaking could also play to Lesnar’s advantage, but two things will prevent him from winning. Lesnar vs HHH happened only a couple of years ago, and I doubt they will go back to that now, and the Wyatt Family are almost definitely going to cost Lesnar this match. He has a chance giving who he is, but I doubt he will win, and I doubt Ambrose will get his push yet, meaning Reigns will come out on top and headline Wrestlemania.
Prediction – Roman Reigns wins and become the new number one contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Champion
New Day as guests of the Cutting Edge Peep Show with Edge and Christian
This obviously isn’t a match, and so a prediction is difficult to make. But here is what I think will go down. After a solid few minutes of interaction which the chemistry will be brilliant, the New Day will brag about being unbeatable, about holding off all teams on the roster and walking into Wrestlemania as champions with no opponents. Then, a song not familiar with the main roster will hit. And outcome the new challengers to the New Day: Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady from NXT. With the American Alpha (Jason Jordan and Chad Gable) becoming the new frontrunners for the titles in NXT, and Enzo and Cass still being incredibly popular, now seems the ideal time to bring them up. Also, having this segment on a PPV almost screams out that something important will happen, and I think that’ll be Enzo and Cass clearing the ring of the New Day, setting up a Wrestlemania match between the two.
