WWE Extreme Rules 2016 Match Results and Recaps in 25 Words or Less

Let’s break down each match from WWE Extreme Rules 2016 and keep it pithy!

No Disqualification Match: Baron Corbin versus Dolph Ziggler

A match that featured one usage of the stipulation, but still delivered a fast paced battle that Corbin simply had to win.

Texas Tornado Tag Match: Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows versus The Usos

An overall sloppy and disjointed match that was too fast paced for its own good. Thank McMahon Anderson and Gallows won.

United States Championship Match: Kalisto versus Rusev

Rusev made to look like the monster he should’ve been all along in some fantastic booking that made both men look good.

Tag Team Championship Match: The New Day versus The Vaudevillains

Xavier Woods actually won a match and used Street Fighter moves as part of his arsenal. The New Day were never going to lose.

Intercontinental Championship Fatal 4-Way Match: The Miz versus Cesaro versus Sami Zayn versus Kevin Owens

The best match on the main roster since January 2015, this was perfect and Miz retaining was the right call.

Asylum Match: Dean Ambrose versus Chris Jericho

A complete mess of a bout that the crowd was disinterested in, the match was too long and it told no story.

WWE Women’s Championship Submission Match: Charlotte versus Natalya

These two produced a MOTY candidate in NXT, but have been given two overbooked horror-shows in a row. Just let Charlotte win clean.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Extreme Rule Match: Roman Reigns versus AJ Styles

Brutal match that was fantastic from start to finish. Credit goes to BOTH MEN who put on an electrifying performance.

Overall Thoughts:

It was a fantastic PPV outside of the women’s match and Ambrose versus Jericho being too long which leaves plenty to look forward to tomorrow.

Superstar of the night: AJ Styles

Match of the night: Intercontinental Championship Fatal 4-Way

Biggest Winner of the night: Rusev

Biggest Loser of the night: Charlotte and Natalya

Moment of the night: Seth freaking Rollins

Biggest Raw talking points: What does Seth do and what’s next for AJ Styles?

WWE: The US Championship: A Legacy of Greatness Season 1

WWE: NXT’s Greatest Matches Vol. 1
