WWE Extreme Rules 2014 Predictions By The Odds

WWE will be presenting Extreme Rules 2014 in a few hours and the lines won’t stop moving. Instead of giving the same predictions blog you can find on 100 websites, I thought I’d have a little fun with mine and spice them up…Vegas style!

[adinserter block=”1″]Rather than run down the entire card I thought I’d focus on the three big matches. Let’s face it. There are really only three matches that fans care about tonight. Yet what would the purpose be of doing a predictions blog and focusing on only three matches. So we’ll throw in a bonus match or as Vegas likes to call it, a “get-well match”.

John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt in a Steel Cage Match – This one seems pretty obvious to most observers. I don’t think anyone expects Bray Wyatt to lose to Cena two shows in a row. But what if he does? What if this is all meant to peak at a third match in which Wyatt goes over? Remember all of those matches in the past where you thought there was no way Cena was going over on this guy two shows in a row and he did. Maybe Wyatt becomes this year’s Ryback?

That said I think it is pretty clear that Wyatt is going over. He is red hot right now and quite frankly I think he could lose the match and he’d be just fine the next night on RAW. But I do think that this feud will be continuing for a while and there really is no point to a third match if Cena goes up 2-0. The Vegas odds are on Wyatt but you can never make Cena a large underdog.

Odds: John Cena +125, Bray Wyatt -200

Evolution vs. The Shield – This is another match that many think is predictable. It would seem unfathomable to have The Shield lose to Evolution when The Shield are on the ascension. Especially when there are all kinds of rumors about Roman Reigns receiving a massive singles push later in the year. The Internet would riot if Evolution went over right? I hate to break it to you but my Vegas odds lean towards Evolution.

Like the Cena-Wyatt feud, I don’t think this is a one-off match. There are already rumors about Triple H vs. Reigns for SummerSlam. I would be surprised if the finish is anything but Triple H pinning Reigns. No, he won’t pin him clean but he will get the win and build heat for the eventual payoff. The loss could also come back into any angle that breaks up The Shield later down the line. Get your pitchforks ready, Trips is going over!

Odds: Evolution -115, The Shield +225

Daniel Bryan vs. Kane in an Extreme Rules match for the WWE championship – Once again this is another match that most think has a predictable finish. Kane has morphed into a mid-low card joke over the last several months. Even in his final days with the mask (before unmasking) he was a comedy figure who hugged it out with Bryan to settle any disputes. It is hard to believe that they would job Bryan so quickly after WrestleMania right? Wrong.

Let me take you back to 1998. Stone Cold Steve Austin is the hottest thing to hit the wrestling business since Hulk Hogan dropped the leg on the Iron Sheik in 1984. Austin had finally gotten his push to the WWE championship and defeated Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania for what appeared to be a long title reign. Appearances can be deceiving and the WWE pulled a fast one only a few months later at King of the Ring putting over…you guessed it, Kane to end the title reign in a shocker. Could Kane play the same part again sixteen years later?

No. I don’t think there is any way that Bryan leaves Extreme Rules without the WWE world championship. The company has invested way too many resources into Bryan for that to happen so fast. A guy like Kane is always a threat in the booking but the reality is that in 2014 he is not in for any WWE title runs. I think Bryan wins the match in what will probably be a better match than most expect.

Bad News Barrett vs. Big E. Langston for the WWE intercontinental title – I will keep this one brief. Barrett is hot, Big E. has languished as an I-C champ for quite a while. I think the WWE does have something with Barrett and personally, I love the gimmick. I think Big E. had a shot early on but right now he is just a placeholder for the new champion. My money is on Bad News.

Odds: Bad News Barrett -300, Big E. Langston +450
