WWE Elimination Chamber 2014 Predictions and Analysis

First of all, I want to say that I am back. I have been absent from writing for Camelclutchblog due to some things that have been going on. My computer died in early January, and I had been battling some personal and health issues which have prevented me from writing. The large number of those issues are far behind me, and I am ready to write again. I have to thank my editor, Eric Gargiulo for being patient with me.

Now, to the blog. WWE will be presenting the 2014 Elimination Chamber PPV this Sunday, February 23rd from the Target Center in Minneapolis, MN. This year’s event looks to be a a very good PPV. There are two EC matches. One is for the WWE Unified Championship, held by Randy Orton. The other EC match features the long awaited clash between the Shield and the Wyatt Family. Also featured are the Tag Team Titles match, and a grudge match between Batista and Del Rio.

I feel that WWE did a great job in building up the main matches. The undercard could have been done better. However, I think that this PPV looks like a very good one on paper. I hope that the actual show will live up to it. I thought last month’s Royal Rumble “looked good on paper, ” and I NEARLY ordered it. I was wrong, and I am glad I saved my money. I hope this PPV is much better, especially going into WM30.

So, without further ado, here are my predictions for the 2014 Elimination Chamber PPV.

I hope you enjoy my blog,

Kickoff Match: Cody Rhodes/Goldust vs Ryback/Curtis Axel

How the mighty have fallen. I remember when Curtis Axel debuted. Does anyone else? Paul Heyman comes out with him as a new client, etc. I mean, what has happened to the guy? Pushed one day. Curtain jerking the next. Same with Ryback. I seriously didn’t see much in either. No surprise here.

PREDICTION: I am expecting a pretty decent match. I am sure that both Rhodes brothers will be able to get passable matches out of both Axel and Ryback. I hope that Ryback can work the match safely. I do wish that the Rhodes brothers were on the PPV though. Winners: Cody Rhodes and Goldust.

Batista vs Alberto Del Rio

2014 Royal Rumble winner Batista hasn’t been on TV all that much. However, it has been full time WWE Superstar Alberto Del Rio who has been carrying this “feud,” if so it can be called. Del Rio has been taunting Batista, and saying what he’s going to do to Batista. There’s been no response from the “Animal.” On the go home Raw, in front of the “Authority, ” HHH, Del Rio taunts Batista, who decides to show up, and poor Del Rio gets pummeled.

Well, even though the outcome is clear. I don’t think it is right that Batista is not very involved in this feud. It is really a one sided feud. Wouldn’t it have been more intriguing for the Animal to go in “wounded,” like Edge did at Mania 27 with an arm wrapped up from Del Rio constantly attacking the it? I mean, it would have been a match where the audience could wonder if
Batista could do his Batista bomb on Del Rio. At least have SOME intrigue. Hell, they are beating up Daniel Bryan before his match to soften him up. I guess the Animal has to be invincible.

PREDICTION: We will see a rather boring match. I don’t see Del Rio having a good match with Batista. Batista needs the right opponent to get him to have a decent match. Del Rio is not that person. Winner : Batista

ELIMINATION CHAMBER MATCH: The Wyatt Family vs the Shield

Part of me is looking forward to this match, and part of me is not happy about it. I am excited about seeing these two teams go at each other. I think both have come a long way, and I am looking forward to this match the most. I am expecting this match to be a candidate for Match of the Night.

On the other hand, I really don’t like the idea that the two groups are facing each other now. I mean, on a “B” PPV? Why? I personally think that the match should be at Wrestlemania. I mean, after this match, I wonder what WWE will have planned for WM30 for the 2 factions?. I hope that what follows will be awesome.

PREDICTION: I am expecting a slugfest. I also think that this will be a very good to excellent match. All six competitors are developing into very good workers. The key to the match is can the Shield keep things together, despite the emerging cracks, and can the opportunistic Wyatts take advantage of the Shield’s emerging vulnerability. I am going with the Wyatt Family, as I think they will crack open the weakness of the Shield. Winner : The Wyatt Family, with Bray remaining.

WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: The New Age Outlaws (C) vs The Usos

I really don’t understand, even if the New Age Outlaws ARE friends with HHH, why the New Age Outlaws were ever made the Tag Champions. It is bad enough that even in their prime, they were never that good. That is just my opinion. I never thought they were good as a tag team, or as singles stars. They were just fun to watch. Even in DX, they were just alright. Again, this is just my opinion.

I don’t understand why they are tag champs now. Did they ever defend them ? I just hope they are transitional champions, and the Usos win them. It is time for a title change, and the Usos are a pretty good team. They had gotten a title shot a long time ago. I had wondered what happened to that.

PREDICTION: The match should be a fun, and enjoyable match. I don’t expect a barn burner, but I think the match should beb entertaining. Winner: The Usos become the new Tag Team Champions.

Darren Young vs Titus O’Neil

Why is this match on the card? I have absolutely NO interest in this match. Out of left field, Titus O’Neil turns on Darren Young because O’Neil feels that Young held him (O’Neil) from being a champion. That is some feud. I don’t know what kind of match those two are going to have, but I don’t think it will be a Five Star Classic, that’s for sure. WWE does some goofy things.

PREDICTION: Usually, the heel wins the first match of a feud. I honestly hope this feud stops here. Winner : O’Neil

INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE MATCH: Big E Langston (C) vs Jack Swagger

This is looking like a good match. I do feel somewhat badly for Jack Swagger. He was a rushed Money in the Bank winner at WM26. He then cashed the briefcase successfully on Jericho who retained his World Title at said PPV. Swagger was poorly booked as Champion.

A few years later, due to falling down the card due to the Company losing faith in him, and some self afflicted antics, Swagger was in the lower card, or not on TV. Swagger has re-emerged as a member of the “We the People” faction, along with Cesaro. Zeb Colture is the manager. As a member of the group, I think Swagger has gained some of the promise he showed, and now he’s facing Big E Langston for Langston’s Intercontinental Title.

Langston had a pretty good push going, which has cooled some. I think he is still learning, but I think he’s got the factors to be a big star in WWE. I like that he has the “It” factor. He’s very athletic. I think he’ll get the wrestling stuff in time.

PREDICTION: I think this will be a pretty good match. Swagger will bring all the technical aspects. Langston will bring the brawn and power moves. I think both of their styles mix well. Winner: Jack Swagger will be the new Intercontinental Champion.

ELIMINATION CHAMBER MATCH FOR THE WWE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE: Randy Orton (C) vs Sheamus vs Christian vs John Cena vs Cesaro vs Daniel Bryan

This match can also, along with the Wyatt/Shield EC match , be a candidate for Match of the Night, especially with this talent. There are some intertwining storylines going into the match. How will Daniel Bryan fare in his quest to be Champion, as beat up as he is? Will Christian get the Championship he desires, or will the door finally shut on his quest for “One more match?” Will John Cena get the Title, or will the Wyatt Family interfere once again? How will Cesaro do in his first WWE Championship match in his career, never mind that it’s in the deadly Elimination Chamber?

What about Randy Orton? His fate in the Chamber is going to be the key factor. After all, the winner not only is the Champion, he is also headlining WM30. That is huge. That would be huge for the Viper. Here he is, whining about how he’s not respected, and the Authority doesn’t have his back ( Funny, the reason he has that title is because of the Authority), but somehow, Orton still winds up with his Title. Prior to this Sunday’s PPV, the Authority had Orton run the gauntlet of all five of his EC competitors, and Christian was the only one Orton beat out right. Regardless, the Viper has a lot riding on Sunday.

PREDICTION: I am expecting a very good match. All six competitors can put on good to great matches. I expect that despite his worked “injuries,” Daniel Bryan will do a ton of the work. I suspect that Cesaro will do a lot of work also. The Wyatt Family will make their presence felt, and that won’t be good for Cena. I don’t see Christian or Sheamus winning it. Winner : Randy Orton will once again , somehow, retain his Title.
