The WWE Will Show Bray Wyatt’s True Brilliance

The WWE, in its changes after the Royal Rumble, are about to see a new star emerge. Whether fans in the WWE Universe like it or not, Bray Wyatt is about to be unleashed on the company in a huge way.

Whatever the company’s plan has been concerning Wyatt – in a program with Daniel Bryan or in a new feud with John Cena, Wyatt is about to show everyone he does not fall far from the family tree.

After all, Bray Wyatt is a member of the Windham family in real life.

Windham Lawrence Rotunda, also known as Wyatt previously wrestled for WWE as Husky Harris and was a member of the Nexus invasion led by Wade Barrett and later, CM Punk.

Since being repackaged, Wyatt has been one of the brighter spots in the company and his “family” consisting of Luke Harper and Erick Rowan – is one of the featured tag team factions in the company. But even with his “family” at his side, the appearance of Wyatt and his mic skills make him the feature act and a rising star in the WWE.

While he is the son of Mike Rotundo, a legend in the WWE and the NWA in his own right, it is the athleticism of the 6’3” 285-pound wrestler draws comparisons to his uncle, Barry Windham, a former WWE tag team champion and NWA World Champion. Even with his current success, there is plenty Wyatt has to live up to preserve the Windham family name.

Just so we are on the same page, Windham is a former one-time United States Heavyweight Champion, a one-time Television Champion, a one-time Western States Heritage Champion, a four-time NWA (Mid Atlantic)/WCW World Tag Team Champion and a one-time NWA United States Tag Team Champion with Ron Garvin.[8] In the WWF, he was a two-time World Tag Team Champion with his brother-in-law, Mike Rotunda. On March 31, 2012, Windham was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as a member of the Four Horsemen.

The accomplishments of Wyatt’s father, Mike Rotundo are impressive, but the younger pupil could be better than anyone on the family, including grandfather Blackjack Mulligan.

Rotunda debuted in Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) in April 2009 with a victory, using the name Alex Rotundo. He later changed his name to Duke Rotundo, In June 2009, Rotundo began teaming with his brother, Bo. The Rotundo Brothers defeated the Dude Busters (Caylen Croft and Trent Barretta) to become the number one contenders to the Florida Tag Team Championship. That same night, they defeated Justin Angel and Kris Logan for the Florida Tag Team Championship. They went on to successfully defend the championship against Dylan Klein and Vance Archer and the team of Curt Hawkins and Heath Slater.

The recent feud with Daniel Bryan and the sudden affinity with John Cena will help Wyatt follow the buzzards toward WWE gold, but there are a few road blocks he must get past first. Can he sell for Cena (and vice versa) like he did with Daniel Bryan? Will Cena, who looks to be on the downside of the title picture right now, be able to “rise above” his ego and put Wyatt over? This is not a case where he and someone like CM Punk are in the ring. For everything Wyatt is right now (and he is still young at 27 years old), he is also still fairly green. This is not Dwayne Johnson, The Rock or Windham in the ring. And what happens to Bryan now that it looks like the company wants to put the much larger Wyatt on the map and possibly toward the WWE World Title.

Oh, and there is a little matter of Randy Orton owning the title right now with Batista, Cena, Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns and possibly Big Show in his rear view mirror and closing in. Once the big man can get through all of that, then he can focus on title immortality. A pretty tall task, but with combination of his appeal and his ability, it could be done.

Also, factor in the current situation with The Shield where both factions will wrestle each other at Elimination Chamber and there are plenty of reasons to think Wyatt’s run is white hot right about now.
