30 Days of WrestleMania: Batista’s Time in the WWE Must be Short-lived

Could someone put out an APB on Batista? The “Animal” as we all knew and loved four years ago – a man on fire and intense as the day is long. Where has he gone and can anyone help find him?

[adinserter block=”1″]Leave it to the WWE to make a former “great” in this business look like a chump. Batista has no more business in the main event than I have wrestling Hulk Hogan. While I am interested in the possibility of a feud between him and Daniel Bryan, I’m still waiting to see if the WWE can somehow take Batista/Randy Orton in the main event of WrestleMania XXX and get to a place where it becomes the third or fourth most important match of the night. So far this is what we know about the “Night in New Orleans.”

Randy Orton will win back the WWE crowd with his win over “The Animal” and in the process, the current WWE World Title holder will lose the strap to the new face of The Authority.

The night after WrestleMania XXX we can all lay odds that Batista will get in the ring, proclaim he is the greatest wrestler of all time and challenges anyone to face him. Bryan comes to the ring and beats Batista, taking the title. This allows Batista to leave gracefully. We all know he does not want to be part of the shtick the WWE is putting on right now.

Bryan finally gets the run he deserves as the leader of the company, the face of the WWE and the one person who defeats Triple H and Batista in back to back nights. The company then must decide who challenges Bryan for the title.

Maybe that is where Brock Lesnar comes in or the return of CM Punk woos the fans. The potential for Roman Reigns and Antonio Cesaro to become part of the equation throws another wrench in all of this.

The main reason this scenario is plausible is we all know the Monday after WrestleMania XXX will be one of the more exciting nights of the year. It will explain everything and leave us with nothing all in the same evening.

The fans could honestly get exactly what they want and still the WWE Universe will not be happy. That comes from the fact the change would not cause closure.

Wrestling is supposed to jump from program to program and tell a story with a beginning, a middle and an end – but allow itself to leave the door open by a crack for feuds to reinvent themselves. That is why Stong/Ric Flair, Flair/Steamboat, Rock/Austin, and Punk/Cena had the potential to blow the roof off of any arena at any time.

If the WWE’s plan all along was to give Bryan the title with the help of Batista on a short-time visit to the WWE Universe, then so be it. But it could have come up of a better concept and way better excitement to entice us.

We want Bryan to win the WWE World Title, but by this scenario, somehow, the fans might feel cheated. I know right now I do.

  1. Are you that much of a mark that you think he’s gonna leave because of Daniel bryan? Batista is a much bigger star and is enjoying his heel run, if you think he’s gonna leave you’re on drugs, he will he champion, and you will deal with it.

  2. Maybe the next time you wait until after Raw before going out on a limb like this. Nothing like having your entire analysis rendered inert with a single TV show, a day after you publish.

  3. The issue is that the WWE upper management be it Hunter/Steph or whomever have severely messed up Wrestlemania’s main event. Unless this is some form of major work on the side of WWE in terms of having say CM Punk be out of the picture only to have him come back which I doubt since Chicago would of been the key time to do it. Another theory floating around is since Punk can’t/won’t come back is that the Bryan/HHH fight will have a stipulation that if Bryan wins he goes in the main event. Right now with the ways things are going if they do not add in that stipulation no one will care who wins the Main Event. It will be boo’ed and over shadowed by CM Punk and Yes! chants till the 3 count.
As for Batista he will be staying around again his new movie is not out till this summer so he is if anything staying around to help hype his own movie. I’m just annoyed they missed a key opportunity to have a match that most fans have wanted for a long time. Batista vs. Lesnar is the match I’m talking about. Both big giant beasts that if memory serves we never got back in the day. Both were always on different brands and well Lesnar took off before Batista got big if you will. A WrestleMania match between those two would of been great. That and fans would not be boo’ing Batista knowing he is in the main event due to insider string pulling.
Oh well I’m giving them till Wrestlemania to correct things if there is no pay off I will be stopping watching WWE once more. TNA I stopped a few months ago due to boring product and 3 times used over storylines. Shame since their young talent is well good but all they do is bury them and the X-Division for the big old school guys.

  4. Saying Batista will leave after Wrestlemania would be a good prediction, if Batista didn’t have a 2 year long contract.
