I, like many wrestler bloggers in the last couple of weeks had it all planned out that when it was time for me to sit down and write my blog this week for the Camel Clutch Blog that it would most likely be about CM Punk.
You can’t deny the popularity of the “Straight Edge Superstar” in recent weeks and of course the predictions of what will happen to him & what will happen at Money in the Bank seem to be driving the wrestling world on fire right. That was the entire game plan until I noticed The Rock’s latest tweet on my twitter feed and went to click on the link.
There laid the latest video/promo of The Rock’s in response to John Cena’s most recent promo’s he cut on “The People’s Champion” on the recent Australia tour. In those 11 minutes we got to see The Rock remind us why he can still cut an unbelievable promo as well as dish out some of the same “truth syrup” we have seen in recent weeks on WWE television. He responded to John Cena’s remarks and explained to him almost the gospel reason why fans dislike him, but the golden egg in it all was at the end of the promo when The Rock gave fans a hint to his next appearance.
[adinserter block=”2″]He stated the following on his next WWE appearance: “It’s all going to go down in the city where The Rock’s dreams came true. In the city, where it all started for The Rock. From the moment The Rock walked in that historic arena and thousands of thousands, chanted The Rock’s name. His very first night was the moment that The Rock and those fans, the moment that The Rock and that city became one for life.”
Immediately you think The Rock is making his next schedule WWE appearance at Madison Square Garden in New York City, the same arena where he debuted in the WWE in 1996 right? Well after I went through the WWE schedule from now until November there was not a single show booked at Madison Square Garden at all. That is until I racked my wrestling knowledge brain and remembered something I read about earlier in the year.
On Sunday November 20th, 2011 the WWE will be celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Survivor Series pay-per-view. The rumored location of the event has been (and is even listed on Wikipedia as such – but we know you can’t go by that) Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York. This is same arena & the same event where The Rock’s WWE career started 15 years prior and would make sense to what The Rock mentioned in his latest promo.
But that’s theory number one.
Theory number two could drive wrestling fans even to more of a frenzy since we seriously have no idea or landscape of where this angle may go. This Sunday on Pay-Per-View from Chicago, Illinois we will find out where the CM Punk angle is going. Is he staying, is he really going, what will happen this Sunday. It certainly has fans talking and developing their very own “Fantasy Booking” angles on what they would like to see at the PPV.
Let’s toss out this scenario now and look at what The Rock said again: “In a city where the Rock’s dreams came true, where it all started for The Rock.”
The Rock is scheduled to face John Cena at Wrestlemania 28 right?
Well what was The Rock’s very first Wrestlemania (“where it all started for The Rock”)?
The Location of that Wrestlemania? The Rosemont Horizon in Chicago, Illinois.
The Rosemont Horizon by the way is now known as the All-State Arena and is the home of this Sunday’s Money in the Bank PPV.
In recent weeks CM Punk has mentioned the names of Brock Lesnar, Paul Heyman & Colt Cabana in his promos. Those same names have been rumored to be re-signing with the WWE in some sort of way or even possibly being mentioned in the “demands” of Punk’s latest contract. Is it a coincidence? I don’t think so.
[adinserter block=”1″]Whose name was also mentioned in the now famous CM Punk promo? “Dwayne” also known as The Rock. Could the name dropping of The Rock (not only in the Punk promo but also by Cena overseas) all be some sort of strategic planning from the WWE Creative Team for The Rock to make some sort of impact at this Sunday’s PPV or am I & other wrestling fans who have thought about this scenario just thinking too much?
Who knows but at this point we at least have some sort of idea when and where The Rock will show up again on WWE Television. It could be this Sunday July 17th at Money in the Bank in Chicago, Illinois or on Sunday November 20th in Survivor Series in New York City, New York. One thing is for certain The Rock is gearing up for another appearance in the near future on WWE television.
