Heading into Week 5 of the NFL season we will get our chance to see the debut of Braylon Edwards as a Jet and Michael Crabtree (sitting on the sidelines) as a 49er. Both of these players have the chances to make their teams better if one of them catches the ball while the other one is healthy. The Browns are all but done this season already in Week 4 and make a deal to get the contract of Braylon Edwards off your back is a huge for the Dogg Pound. While Michael Crabtree will no doubt make an impact for the already good 49ers football team come Week 8 or 9 when he starts “clicking.”

Other stories heading into Week 5 is the return of Donovon McNabb in Philly after a great couple of starts from Kevin Kolb. Amazing to see that in Week 5 Michael Vick has almost been non-existent for the Philadelphia Eagles. I wonder if it’s rust or there just really isn’t a role for him to play in Philadelphia. There were rumors that Vick might be traded as early at the Week 6 Trade Deadline but we have not seen that yet and not sure if we will see it until the offseason.

We also get to see the first true test for Josh McDaniels and his 4-0 team in Denver as they take on the “reborn after the Jets loss in Week 2” New England Patriots. If the Broncos want to prove to the NFL that they are for real this is the game to do it. While it looks like the Broncos team is starting to come together with players Kyle Orton and Brandon Marshall playing decent in Week 4. If they want the respect from the rest of the NFL they need to win this game, this is more of a statement game for the Broncos then it is for the Patriots. No matter whom wins a message will be sent to the rest of the league; for the Broncos it will be “we are for real” and for the Patriots it will be “we are back.”

The other big matchup this week is an NFC South game between the Atlanta Falcons and the San Francisco 49ers. Both of these teams are making a strong case that come January they will be playing football still for a chance to the Super Bowl as the NFC representative. You have two great coaches with two different philosophies. The Falcons are offensive minded while the 49ers are becoming an NFC Defensive juggernaut. I still like the Falcons in the NFC this season to be in the Super Bowl but I feel that this is going to be one of those “growing pains” games for Matt Ryan. Despite potentially losing against the 49ers, Matt Ryan and company will come out of the game a better team.

Week 5 should be an interesting week that many sports fan may not be drawn to thanks to the MLB Playoffs. I know I will be doing a lot of channel flipping come Sunday. With that being said here are my Week 5 picks:
