MLB Betting – Weaver, Harrison Square Off In Texas

Los Angeles' Jered Weaver has emerged as a possible longshot to win the American League Cy Young awardThose who bet on the Kentucky Derby will often look for a dark horse to lay some action on, and Los Angeles’ Jered Weaver has emerged as a possible long shot to win the American League Cy Young award with a hot start to the season. He’ll lead the Angels into the finale of a three-game set of their division rivals from Texas on Wednesday night, and the Rangers will counter with a pitcher who is also storming out of the gates.

Angels Rangers Betting – Wednesday, 8:05 PM ET

Weaver (4-0, 1.30) followed up his 15-strikeout performance against Toronto with another solid outing in a 4-3 win at Chicago, allowing three runs (two earned) in four hits over seven innings of work, and while he whiffed only four batters, Weaver didn’t walk any. If the Angels are going to regain their status in the West as the MLB betting favorites, Weaver will be at the forefront of their efforts. The 28-year-old righthander is 7-4 in 20 career starts against the Rangers, posting a 3.43 ERA, but he has struggled at the Ballpark, going 1-4 in 10 starts with a 4.35 ERA.

Matt Harrison (3-0, 1.23) picked up this third win of the season in a 5-3 victory in New York, tossing eight strong innings by giving up a pair of runs (one earned) on seven hits, and he had the same amount of strikeouts as walks (three). Harrison was a starter before he was moved to the bullpen last season, and he’s out to prove that he has the stuff to be a top-line starter in the American League; so far, he’s sticking to his game plan. The 25-year-old southpaw is 2-1 in seven games (two starts) against the Angels with a 5.40 ERA, and he returns home for the first time since his 2011 debut when he stymied Boston.

The line for this game will be close in your sports bookie software, and the Rangers romped to a 7-1 win in the first game on Monday night. They’re going up against an in-form pitcher in Weaver, but he’s had his troubles at the Ballpark in the past. He don’t think the Rangers will rough him badly, but unless he has his best stuff, we’re going to give the edge to Texas as Harrison looks like a guy who has a lot to prove, and has pitched extremely well in wins over Boston, New York and Baltimore. He’ll want to show that the Rangers can count on him against a bitter division rival, and he’ll bring his A-game to the mound on Wednesday night. Go with the Texas Rangers in your online sports betting picks on Wednesday.
