Ultimate Warrior, Hulk Hogan and other WWE Thoughts

The WWE had a huge day on Tuesday. First, the Ultimate Warrior was named as one of the wrestlers to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Then it was announced that Hulk Hogan will somehow be involved in WrestleMania XXX. Is it ironic that two wrestlers who have had issues with each other and the WWE over the years are coming back to the fold to be part of the festivities in New Orleans.

I understand the reasons for Warrior’s induction and the return of such wrestlers like Brock Lesnar and Batista to the company. But honestly, something about Hogan bothers me and his connection to WrestleMania XXX. Yes, it is a milestone event and creating a link from the past to the present and hopefully the future is important. But if Hogan is involved, then bring back Roddy Piper and Ace Orton and Mr. T and how about Cyndi Lauper?

See how crazy that is? See how it makes no sense?

Hogan is the type of personality that needs to be in the front of everything and right now that does not sit well with me mainly because there are too many egos already in this company and with The Authority and John Cena and Cm Punk leading the charge, where does the former icon fit in and does he think he will be able to come in and take over. Hogan has never sat in the back for anyone.

Hogan and Shawn Michaels, Hogan and Taker, Hogan and The Rock. It just won’t happen. Even when Hogan was supposed to be part of the backdrop in TNA – but he needed to have the camera in his face, make the two-hour show all about him and his evolution and the need to be loved over and over again by the masses.

He isn’t Vince mcMahon, but he sure as heck wanted to be him.

In other wrestling news…

It was great seeing the perfect set up for Daniel Bryan in his quest to finally best Bray Wyatt. Maybe the this was the WWE’s plan all along and the steel cage match was the best way to make that happen. Now there is a good chance we see Wyatt and Bryan in a steel cage match at the Royal Rumble, which takes Bryan out of the Rumble match – bettering CM Punk’s chances of winning the shot at the WWE title match.

Roman Reigns is about to get the push he deserves. Finally, the WWE could start a plan and really stick to it. Reigns has the look, the size and the growth for development. If the WWE and its development team don’t blow it (Damien Sandow), this could be something special.

The WWE must find a real challenger for AJ Lee and this division called Divas. Nothing is good coming from it, other than Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella are engaged. A second season may be good for E! Entertainment, but it is really holding back the wrestling component of the company and production. The best thing for the WWE is to have Tamina turn on AJ and have the two meet at WrestleMania XXX.

I can see 18 seconds happen all over again.

Finally, what does the WWE do with Batista once he returns next week? I have heard rumors about a program with Alberto Del Rio, but seriously, I like the idea of his skill set and his vocabulary tirades just pissing off Batista and gives the big man someone to work with and get his wrestling legs back before he takes on larger fish in the WWE pool. Then, maybe Sheamus is the answer.
