The mystery surrounding the return of the Undertaker has been solved. The Undertaker will be returning at WWE SummerSlam. The first SummerSlam ad debuted during Money in the Bank and featured the Undertaker prominently in the commercial. The return of the dead man is right around the corner!
The WWE has kept the Undertaker under wraps since he suffered the injury in June. The WWE allegedly kept the Undertaker from attending UFC 116 with other pro wrestling heavyweights in order to preserve the storyline of him being in a vegetative state. That is why it is incredibly odd that the WWE tipped their hat and advertised him in the SummerSlam commercial before evolving the storyline on television. It isn’t as if they couldn’t have gone back and edited the commercial which they did originally when Triple H was pulled from the show.
Yes, Kane vs. The Undertaker is an odd match to see in 2010 on WWE pay per view. In all fairness the WWE has done a great job of elevating Kane from a regular mid-carder back to a top level wrestler. Kane’s WWE world title win at Money in the Bank is likely just a transitional win until the belt goes to the Undertaker in the near future.
This won’t be the first time that the Undertaker returned at SummerSlam. The Undertaker returned from a several month layoff last year at SummerSlam. Undertaker attacked an unsuspecting CM Punk after Punk beat Jeff Hardy for the WWE world title. Unlike last year’s SummerSlam return, this appearance will not be a surprise.
