WrestleMania season is typically a time where a good amount of wrestlers get “lost in the shuffle” of the card itself. Now with WrestleMania season over it’s the time to push forward towards the WWE’s 2nd biggest PPV of the year, Summerslam and push different wrestlers in the post-WrestleMania 28 world. With that being said let’s look at the top 5 wrestlers the WWE should push post-WrestleMania 28.
5. Kofi Kingston
Besides John Cena, CM Punk and Zack Ryder the most signs or t-shirts I see in the crowd on a normal weekly WWE television basis is for Kingston. The WWE could really make a lot more money if they give Kingston a chance. He’s been with the company for a good amount of time now and we know he can “go” with the best of them. A post-WrestleMania 28 push will serve Kingston and the future of the WWE well.
This response may come as a surprise to some because he is a former World Heavyweight Champion, has been in the WWE long then most people have been on the current roster and isn’t a “young gun” anymore. But let’s face facts here; Christian is the veteran on the WWE roster that can make any talent around him better. Fans seemed to really enjoy his feud with Randy Orton over the summer and were even starting to enjoy his feud with Sheamus before he was taken out with an injury. His addition to any feud makes the star he is feuding with look like a top level talent.
His injury derailed him a good amount towards the end of a very productive 2011, a year if he was healthy throughout it, would make him a top potential “wrestler of the year” candidate for how good he was in the WWE during 2011. He is back, healthy and shouldn’t be held back from any top level feuds in the WWE because he is a main event talent that needs to be showcased. Christian should be pushed post-WrestleMania 28 because not only can he be a top talent, but like I said before you can take any face that is “on the rise” in the WWE (i.e. Kofi Kingston) and help elevate that wrestler’s game as well. Christian is the ultimate “company man” for the WWE.
3. Randy Orton
If you told me that I’d be writing a blog on the top 5 WWE talents that need to be pushed and during some point on that list I’d be writing about Randy Orton I’d tell you that you are out of your mind. But let’s face facts here; outside of CM Punk it was Randy Orton who had a banner year in the WWE throughout 2011. He was a World Champion, had a tremendous feud with Christian, carried the Smackdown brand on his back and elevated talents like Mark Henry, Cody Rhodes & Wade Barrett. Your “father’s version” of Randy Orton was gone and this “new version” of Randy Orton showcased a wrestler that was using his status to help benefit the WWE.
I really believed that Randy Orton should have been in a top match at WrestleMania for his amazing efforts throughout 2011 but that wasn’t in the cards for “The Viper.” Orton is someone who has earned another World Title run and can make various wrestlers in the WWE (Daniel Bryan, Cody Rhodes, Christian & Dolph Ziggler) be looked at as top level heel talent as well. Randy Orton has earned a post-WrestleMania 28 push and I believe should be at the top of that mountain for a good amount of time in 2012.
2. Dolph Ziggler
Dolph Ziggler is a star who was the “right guy at the wrong time” leading up to WrestleMania 28 this year. He had a really good feud with CM Punk leading up to the 2012 Royal Rumble that opened up a lot of fans eyes that this guy was a legit top-tier talent in the WWE. All the WrestleMania 28 hoopla pushed him down the card in a spot he probably shouldn’t have been in but put a ton of promise into what the future holds for this terrific superstar.
First and foremost Dolph Ziggler deserves a World Title run of some sort in 2012. He needs to be booked as this “next top heel” in the WWE and be hungry for the World Title. Ziggler is a pretty good talent in the ring, has a ton of charisma & personality and can cut a pretty good promo as well. All those traits are what make a good superstar in the WWE and he has it. I really expect big things for him in 2012 and believe that come WrestleMania 29 he will be featured in a top spot on the card.
1. Cody Rhodes
If it wasn’t for the way he built his feud with The Big Show leading into WrestleMania 28 he probably would’ve been behind Dolph Ziggler on this list. But that build up proved to me that Cody Rhodes is a future megastar in the WWE. I say this because if you go back to WrestleMania 27 and his feud with Rey Mysterio he built the feud really well with the former World Champion. Some refer to it as possibly the best build to any of the WrestleMania matches on the card last year.
You then fast forward to this year and he had that moniker yet again as the Rhodes/Big Show build gave Rock/Cena a run for its money in making people want to see this match. This is because Cody Rhodes is a top level star in the WWE that needs to breakout post-WrestleMania 28. Potential feuds he could have with top stars like CM Punk and John Cena would make fans want to see it because it’s fresh & new in the WWE.
