If you’re anything like me, you’ve been thinking about this Halloween, since, well last Halloween. You know exactly what you’re going to wear and what parties you’re going to. But, if this doesn’t quite describe you, I’ll be writing every week to help you out with some costume ideas (sorry, you’re on your own for the parties), starting with what I think is going to be big this year.
If you’ve been paying any attention, you’ll have noticed that vampires are everywhere. Not literally, of course. With the explosion of Twilight, True Blood, and the newly debuted Vampire Diaries, expect to see lots and lots of vampires prowling around this year. Just plain Dracula won’t cut it this year. There are going to be hundreds of Edwards and Bellas, Bills, and Erics.
There have been no shortage of political [antics ]. Like last year, there will be many, if not more Barack Obamas roaming around. This year, there will probably be just as many Michelles. As usual, Hilary and Bill will some frequent appearances and Sarah Palin may show her face here and there. Don’t be surprised if you also see the villainous Bernie Madoff lurking around the punch bowl.
In the past few years, comic book heroes and villains have made a huge comeback. This year, we’ll have Wolverine,
the Watchmen and some Batman layover from last year. Also, Trekkies will be having a field day as=2 0 Star Trek costumes and accessories should be out in full force.
These are just a few ideas to give you a forecast for the 2009 Halloween Season. Next week: The classics – costumes we see every year and ways to change them up.
