America’s future is bleak right now with our economy in the tank and people losing jobs everyday. I am an optimist at heart. I truly believe this is a rough patch we as a spoiled society are experiencing. My grandmother went through something similar in her day. It was called the great depression. So why are we so panicked over a little hard time?
I look at it as a simple thing of adversity. Adversity is a measure of what we are made of. It is the uncanny ability to think on our feet. We are have a difficult time with everything we are going through right now because of where we came from. Keep in mind I was born in the year of 1974. I don’t claim to know it all but I have a set of eyes that many don’t. Are the pupils I look through that much different from yours? Not really. I like to do something many people don’t generally do, think for myself!
I am going to get political in a minute, so be warned. I am a huge fan of talk radio. I can’t get enough of it. Talk shows on TV too. It seems one of the big two parties in this country are relying on a new future. The republicans are calling for change! Where was that rallying cry heard before? Oh I remember the newly elected president Barack Obama. The appointed savoir of this great nation. I’ll get to him in a minute.
So now the republicans want change? They seem to have a new leader in the form of ultra conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh. Since when did he become such a powerful force in the Republican Party? I know he has been at it for years but he is the newly appointed messiah of the GOP. That is scary. Just last week Wanda Sykes a comedian, who will probably be ridiculed and demeaned by Limbaugh and the GOP because of her sexual orientation, toughed on the past of the future. To refresh Wanda Sykes was at a White House Correspondents Dinner. She made jokes referencing Limbaugh’s past as a drug addict and jokingly stated he was the 20th hijacker.
Now it seems the Party is upset. Everyone from Limbaugh to O’Reilly has past comments and judgments. Did they forget Rush’s past? In late 2001, he acknowledged that he suffered from a highly publicized addiction to prescription painkillers, particularly Oxycontin. In 2003, Limbaugh had a brief stint as a pro football commentator with ESPN. He resigned a few weeks into the 2003 NFL season after making comments about quarterback Donovan McNabb, which some construed as racist.
There is more for the next American hope or is that dope? On the October 23, 2006 edition of his radio show, Limbaugh imitated on the “Ditto Cam” (the webcam for website subscribers to see him on the air) the physical symptoms of actor Michael J. Fox, who has Parkinson’s disease He said “(Fox) is exaggerating the effects of the disease. He’s moving all around and shaking and it’s purely an act … This is really shameless of Michael J. Fox. Either he didn’t take his medication or he’s acting.
Michael J. Fox later appeared on CBS with Katie Couric and said he was suffering from dyskinesia at the time, a condition that results from his medication. What’s next Mr. Limbaugh? Is Muhammad Ali fake the effects of the disease too?
So why so upset when a comedian says something funny? You do comedy right? It seems to be weaved in your show. For example: Limbaugh utilizes props to introduce his monologues on various topics. On his radio show, news about the homeless has often been preceded with the Clarence “Frogman” Henry song “Ain’t Got No Home” For a time, Dionne Warwick’s song “I Know I’ll Never Love This Way Again” preceded reports about people with AIDS. These later became “condom updates” preceded by The Fifth Dimension’s song, “Up, Up and Away (in My Beautiful Balloon). For two weeks in 1989, on his Sacramento radio show, Limbaugh performed “caller abortions” where he would end a call suddenly to the sounds of a vacuum cleaner and a scream. He would then deny that he had “hung up” on the caller, which he had promised not to do. Limbaugh claims that he used this gag to illustrate “the tragedy of abortion” as well as to highlight the question of whether abortion constitutes murder.
Now I said I would touch on the president too. I didn’t vote for the guy but hope he can do what he says he is going to do. I do say this. He is just as much a Politian as anyone else that held that elected position. You do not get to the highest office without promising your soul. Why do I say this? We as Americans’ can only elect a Senator or Congressman. Think about it the Electoral College votes the president in to his office. Bush was elected president in 2000 as the Republican candidate, receiving a majority of the electoral votes, but losing the popular vote to then Vice President Al Gore.
The only thing left to say is wake up! America the media elected your current president. In 2000 there was major a conspiracy and it effected the election. Then 9/11 happened and a pass was given to the man in charge. (I have a lot more thoughts on that too.)
We didn’t know at the time the pass we gave to Mr. Bush would cost us so much more in the long run. Now they want change in America and the Republican Party. Why? So they can continue what they started.
Don’t buy in to this stuff you see on TV and here on the radio. They have sponsors who bought and paid for things. They will not attack their sponsors if it is the correct thing to do. American’s need to investigate everything they see and hear. The truth is out there.
Blind faith in your leaders will affect you in every way. I don’t know about you but I laugh when I see Rush Limbaugh is the new Republican leader for change.
