Stone Cold Steve Austin Returns To WWE RAW June 13

Stone Cold Steve Austin will be at WrestleMania 27The Texas Rattlesnake is returning to WWE RAW. Stone Cold Steve Austin is being advertised locally for the three-hour RAW event on June 13. This would mark Austin’s fourth live WWE appearance this year, his most in four years.

I have no idea what the WWE Hall of Fame wrestler will do on June 13 but I don’t care. I always get excited to see Steve Austin on RAW. The timing is a bit strange though. The date comes one week after the conclusion of Tough Enough 2011. Without Tough Enough to promote, it is fair to start speculating what Austin is coming to RAW for in June.

The June RAW event will take place from Uniondale, New York at the Nassau Coliseum. As over as Steve Austin was and is to this day, he was a beast in the northeast. Northeast crowds love his attitude and Austin was always a big hit in the New York market. I am sure the crowd will be electric for the return of the former WWE champion.

But really what is Austin coming to RAW for? My guess and it is purely a guess is that he will be doing something with the Tough Enough winner. Tough Enough will be finished and the WWE could really use Austin’s help in endorsing the winner. The only worry with that scenario would be the idea that the WWE would rush the winner into the mix too fast thus putting an enormous amount of pressure on the winner.

Another guess would be the start of something for SummerSlam. The WWE really does try and give make SummerSlam special, although some years aren’t always successful as others. Maybe Austin will wind up as a special referee for SummerSlam? There are rumblings of a Triple H vs. The Undertaker WrestleMania 27 rematch at SummerSlam. Austin already told Triple H he’d “be there” when they do it again. Maybe Austin is not only there, but actually a part of the match as a special referee?

Steve Austin did lace up the boots and get back in the ring on an episode of Tough Enough. He certainly still has it and looked tremendous working out with Luke. I certainly don’t expect Austin to wrestle on RAW that night but maybe he has the itch. Maybe he joins The Rock at WrestleMania 28 and returns to the ring? Maybe RAW is the start of a lengthy angle featuring the return of Steve Austin to a WWE ring?

Of course when it comes to the WWE they generally disappoint in these kinds of situations. Remember how excited everyone got when Austin was announced for the March 7 RAW? Yeah, that was the RAW he walked out and didn’t even cut a promo. So in terms of big angles or monumental promos I won’t hold my breath.

By the way as a side note on Austin, if you are missing Tough Enough you are missing Steve Austin at his best. Austin cuts promos on the kids at the end of the show that blow away anything on television today. He may not be a spring chicken but Austin can still get on television and out-promo everyone in the wrestling industry. Check out the promos and enjoy some classic Austin while you can get it.
