NBC affiliate KSBY posted a pretty interesting 10 minute interview with WWE Hall of Fame wrestler, Shawn Michaels. While the Heartbreak Kid is obviously there to promote his new television show, he touches on a couple of very interesting topics to wrestling fans.
The “Shawn Michaels’ MacMillan River Adventures” show will be premiering next month on the Outdoor Channel. While early reports indicated that this would be a hunting show, recent interviews with Michaels (including this one) tell a different story. According to Michaels the show will be more about his lifestyle rather than just a pure hunting show.
One of the most interesting tidbits coming out of this interview is when Michaels talks about his son. He talks a bit about his eleven year old son Cameron and says that Cameron has been “bit” by the wrestling bug. Michaels sounded split on whether he’d like to see his son go into the family business. However, Michaels did reveal that he will be buying a ring and teaching his son “the right way” how to learn.
It is always interesting to see how some pro wrestling legends react when their kids want to get into pro wrestling. Pro wrestling has not been kind to second generation wrestlers. Sure you have the Randy Orton and Dustin Rhodes stories, but for every one of them there is a David Sammartino and Reid Flair. I can’t recall anyone other than Dusty Rhodes at the elite level who saw their kids succeed in the business. Of course in Japan and Mexico it happens quite frequently.
Shawn Michaels also talks TNA Wrestling and whether TNA Wrestling has made him an offer since he retired from the WWE, being a free agent, renegotiating a contract with Vince McMahon, a pro wrestling union, and more.
