According to reports from “esteemed” pro wrestling journalist Perez Hilton, Vince McMahon is furious with Joanie “Chyna” Laurer for appearing in TNA Wrestling. Does it get much stranger than this?
I don’t know how much credibility I put into these reports. As of now, nobody with any serious wrestling credibility (unless you count Perez Hilton) has confirmed this report. However, true or not this one was too good for the Camel Clutch Blog to pass up.
The whole story seems a bit odd to me. For one thing, I find it really hard to believe that Vince McMahon would entertain the idea of bringing back the ex-girlfriend of his daughter’s husband. Yes it is petty, but as the boss that is what father’s do. They protect their kids. Two, why would Laurer appearing in TNA today impact any Hall of Fame appearance 10 months from now? Heck, Ric Flair and Tommy Dreamer were welcome to the ceremony and they currently work for TNA. It isn’t as if Laurer double crossed him or maybe she did.
Even stranger is the story that TMZ.com broke last week about Laurer’s deal. TMZ.com reports Laurer and TNA Wrestling are working on a handshake deal. Laurer doesn’t have a contract. If Vince McMahon is that angry, he could sign her up to a WWE Legends contract tomorrow and kill the angle dead on arrival. And if Laurer really was in talks with the WWE, the idea that TNA would allow her to appear on a handshake deal is even more insane.
In all honesty, I don’t believe this story for one second. The story appeared on Perez Hilton’s website today which gave it some legs. I can’t imagine that Perez Hilton has a direct line to Vince McMahon or someone in his inner circle but then again, stranger things have happened.
For all I know this story could very well be true, but I think this is just a real lame attempt to throw something ridiculous out there and see if it sticks. This reminds me of a “report” in a New York newspaper that confirmed Sting signing with the WWE for a year. That person is still “reporting” wrestling and Sting is still in TNA.
Sorry folks, it’s a slow news day.
