Roman Reigns Starts WWE SummerSlam Rumors, Talks WrestleMania 31, and More

Roman Reigns is stirring up a hot WWE rumor in the wrestling world. A subtle tease has exploded into what could be a very big SummerSlam surprise…if you smell what the Rock is cooking!

Roman Reigns spoke with my old friend Jimmy Traina over at FoxSports.com on a variety of topics. However, it was what Reigns said when asked about the Rock that is causing a stir among wrestling websites and social media.

Reigns was asked about when we’d see the Rock back.

I wanna tell you, but I don’t want to give anything away,” Reigns said.

Reigns wasn’t giving much away there, so whether Reigns decided to have some fun or leak a potentially big story is something we won’t know for another week and a half. Reigns expanded on the Rock’s return a bit.

Let’s just put it this way: It’s The Rock, Dwayne Johnson. Biggest Superstar on earth, possibly. If he wants to show up to Brooklyn, he’s going to show up to Brooklyn. It wouldn’t be the first time, and it probably won’t be the last time. It’s WWE. Anything can happen.

I don’t know what to make of this although the interview had everyone talking this week about the Rock coming back. Looking at the landscape I think the idea of Rock returning to set up something with Undertaker at WrestleMania is always a possibility. Although it would appear that things are being set up for a trilogy between Taker and Brock with Mania being the rubber match.

Could Rock get involved in Reigns’ match? He could and let’s face it. Bray Wyatt has worked with veterans the last two Manias. It sounds crazy but I could see the WWE pushing a Rock vs. Bray match, although I think that will be a hard sell for the Rock. Rock vs. Reigns is always a possibility with Reigns turning as well. With Triple H off the card at SummerSlam I don’t know what Rock can do to set up that match.

Reigns talked about WrestleMania and his disappointment with not winning the belt.

Obviously, if you don’t want to win that match, something’s wrong with you,” he said. “But for me, the most important thing was to go out there and just capitalize on the moment. Live in it. That was the most important thing. Just get lost in this moment. Don’t worry about all the BS, all the politics, all this and that, what everybody’s saying. Just go out there and do what you want to do, go out there and have fun, go out there and make a moment your family can be proud of and I think that’s what I did.

Finally, Reigns was asked about an incident over the weekend where a fan threw a replica Money in the Bank briefcase and hit Reigns with it.

I thought Bray Wyatt actually hit me in the head with the kendo stick,” Reigns said. “When that happened I was like, ‘Oh, you’re about to get it.’ But right in that moment, I saw the briefcase and then I was confused: ‘I know a fan didn’t throw that. How the heck? Oh, my God. A fan threw that. What the hell?’ If you see the video you can see that I’m kinda taken out of the moment I was fairly hot for a second, but our ref, Rudy, kinda calmed me down so I kinda just went back down and let our security team do their thing.

Nikki Bella also sits in on the interview and the entire interview can be heard via podcast over at FoxSports.com or below.
