Sports Betting Preview – Rangers, Devils renew hostilities

Rangers vs. DevilsThe sports betting line for Thursday’s NHL betting matchup between the New Jersey Devils and New York Rangers should be relatively close, as these two have met twice this year, with the road team winning each time. Unlike last week’s NFL betting results in the NFC, where the home team won both times, home-ice advantage may not play a major role in this Atlantic Division showdown.

Devils vs Rangers betting – Tuesday, January 12, 7:00 PM ET

The Devils had a three-game winning streak snapped under strange circumstances with a 4-2 loss to Tampa Bay, as the game was suspended on Friday due to lighting problems, and the final 29:12 was played on Sunday. However, the Devils are still atop the Atlantic Division with seven wins in their last 10 games, and they’ve already won at Madison Square Garden with a 4-2 victory on October 22nd. Zach Parise, who is key to the United States’ sports betting odds in the Olympics, leads the way with four points against the Rangers, while Martin Brodeur, who will start for Team Canada, has a 2.53 GAA and a .912 save percentage.

The Rangers have won three of their last four games, and they haven’t allowed more than two goals in their last six outings. This is a good thing as the Rangers rank in the bottom third of the league in goals scored. This should improve as long as Marian Gaborik stays healthy, but even then, he needs some help. Ales Kotalik has four points in two games against the Devils, while “King” Henrik Lundqvist, who should be the No.1 goalie for Sweden in Vancouver, has a 2.53 GAA and a .902 save percentage against the Devils.

Bookmaker odds (bookmaker reviews) have both teams at -110, and that reflects more on how good New Jersey is on the road. The Devils are 15-4-1 away from home, which is a testament to their veteran leadership, disciplined defense, and of course, the play of Brodeur. The Rangers are only 10-10-3 at Madison Square Garden, but they have won three of their last four at home, including back-to-back wins over Boston and Dallas. They’re building a solid head of steam up in front of their home fans, but the Devils are too consistent to bet against right now.

Internet betting pick: Devils -110
