The highly anticipated game is almost here!
When Overwatch was first released in 2016 May, it was a huge success and it paved the path for future multiplayer PVP games with its kinetic gameplay style and tight controls. Not to mention the characters of the game with their individual special powers were a great hit as it captured the interest of players to try new combinations of gameplay with different sets of characters.
Many games like “Apex Legends” took inspiration from the “hero-based shooter” to bring in more colors to the game and introduce brighter characters for everyone to enjoy. The hype for part 2 of the game was off the charts and players have been waiting in anticipation for any and all news about the sequel of the game.
But now the wait is almost over and the game will be coming to all platforms very soon. Here is everything we know about Overwatch 2 so far:
Gameplay and Trailer
The original teaser trailer for Overwatch 2 was released almost 2 years ago but it did not really feature any prominent gameplay styles. However, after that, multiple gameplay videos were released on YouTube that featured different modes in which the players could play the game.
Overwatch 2 would have many things similar to its predecessor but will also be including some new things like the 5v5 mode while keeping the game balanced and not overwhelming old or new players.
The game will introduce a new mode called push mode which will allow both teams to enter a symmetrical map and take control of a robot in the center. The team which is able to push the robot closest to the enemy team’s base, in the end, will be the winner.
Although not much information has been released about the game officially yet, some rumors and leaks have certainly provided some information. The latest one is from a screenshot of the concept art of the main menu of the game that featured a battle pass. This could mean that the sequel will finally be featuring a battle pass feature like Fortnite and many other PVPs.
No official date for the release of the game has been confirmed yet. But even if the acquisition of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft is still months away, it should not hinder the game development, and neither should it go back on its promise of being released on every gaming platform.
Although the game was scheduled for release this year, the setbacks caused by the pandemic could push the date to next year. As for PC players, beta gameplay for Overwatch 2 will be available on 26 April 2022. What are your thoughts about Overwatch 2? Let us know in the comments.
