NFL Super Bowl 45 Post Game Thoughts – Inside The Wheelhouse

Aaron Rodgers and the Packers are the Super Bowl championsLets wrap up the final NFL blog for the 2010-2011 season in style with my Super Bowl 45 Thoughts blog for Camel Clutch Blog!

– Let me preface this blog with I am in fact a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan, so yes there may be some, or a lot, of Super Bowl biased. Now that we have got that out of the way…

– America, this is Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers, this is America. Pleasure for you to meet each other.

– The Green Bay Packers are the 2011 Super Bowl Champions. Not many people, including myself, thought that I would be typing or saying those words at the end of the season. There were so many injuries that plagued the Packers that the hope was very minimal. But after a miracle run the last six to seven weeks the Green Bay Packers are sitting on top of the world.

– If I’m Mike McCarthy and Ted Thompson I am sending DeSean Jackson, Matt Dodge and Andy Reid fruit baskets or buying them a condo. If it weren’t for that miracle 4th quarter in the Meadowlands the Green Bay Packers would not be where they are right now.

[adinserter block=”2″]- Why didn’t the Pittsburgh Steelers continue to run the ball on Green Bay? Granted, Mendenhall did fumble the ball but you shouldn’t lose your confidence in your running back like the coaching staff did during the end of the game. Mendenhall was the only promising offensive player the entire game for Pittsburgh.

– Where was Big Ben in that game? He is one of the best Postseason NFL players in the league and never was dominant in the game. I believe he was injured early in the game and that really took him out of the rest of the game. It also doesn’t help when Clay Matthews is mirroring your every move.

– Or maybe Ben Roethlisberger shouldn’t have been out partying early in the week. I didn’t hear any stories about Aaron Rodgers going out, did you?

– We will never truly know but I wouldn’t be shocked if Troy Polamalu was playing hurt on Super Bowl Sunday. He was misreading Greg Jennings and other Packers receivers all game. He also appeared to be a step or two behind the speedy Green Bay receivers. It was not Polamalu like.

– While Green Bay did win they game, had they not we would all be bashing the receiver core for not stepping up when they needed to. There were multiple throws to Jordy Nelson and one break away pass to James Jones that would have been game changers.

– Had Jordy Nelson caught the passes he dropped he could have had close to 200 yards receiving while Aaron Rodgers could have had 400 yards throwing.

– Go figure that Green Bay has to play through adversity in the final game of the year like they have had to all season long. After losing Ryan Grant, Nick Barnett, Jermichael Finley etc. to season ending injuries they lose the defensive leader Charles Woodson and receiver Donald Driver in the Super Bowl. Seems bittersweet for Green Bay to do it once again when the chips appeared to be down.

– The Halftime show sucked. I am not a fan of the Black Eyed Peas. Was it me or the “L” in the “Love stage” (great name for an adult film btw), not working?

– I’m just as big a Patriot as the next one but relax on Christina Aguilera. Sure she messed up but I don’t know if I could even say “hello” to close to 100,000 people and 111 million watching at home. It isn’t the first time this has happened and won’t be the last.

– Here’s to hoping the NFL and the NFLPA get there stuff together. The game is at an all-time high right now, for them not to reach a deal will be extremely disappointing.

– Said it all season, defense wins Championships. The best defense won on Sunday. Green Bay forced a Interception return for a TD and a very crucial fumble towards the end of the game. The fumble on Mendenhall was a momentum killer for Pittsburgh.

– How are people not knocking down the door of Kevin Greene to be their defensive coordinator? He is the reason why the linebacker core of Green Bay is the best in the league.

– How do you think Brett Favre feels? Personally I don’t care.

– Karma might have come up big on Sunday as Ben Roethlisberger loses in the biggest stage of the season and Packers fans get redemption after the Brett Favre debacle three years ago.

Greg Jennings became a legit #1 Wide Receiver at Super Bowl 45.

– Keep Jordy Nelson on the radar for next season (hopefully) he is starting to become a favorite target of Aaron Rodgers.

– You have to figure that Green Bay can contend for another Championship next season (hopefully) when they are completely healthy. This could be a top NFC team for years to come.

[adinserter block=”1″]- Could this be the most memorable run of any team in NFL playoffs history? Six straight elimination games. 2 at home (regular season), while 3 on the road (Philly, Atlanta & Chicago) while 1 on a neutral turf (Dallas)? It at least has to be up there.

– Why wasn’t Heath Miller used more in the game for the Steelers offense?

– How come the Steelers did not take it to the Packers secondary once Charles Woodson went out and Sam Shields was playing hurt? It did not make sense to me, hence why I still believe that Roethlisberger was hurt more then we knew he was. At least he didn’t pull a Cutler.

– This isn’t the last dance for Mike Tomlin. One of my favorite Coaches in the NFL.

– Congrats once again to the Green Bay Packers for bring the Championship back to Titletown!

– Special thanks to Eric Gargiulo for allowing me to do these blogs every week and you, the great readers for Camel Clutch Blog for reading my banter throughout the season!
