NFC & AFC Championship Games Preview & Predictions – Inside The Wheelhouse

Patriots vs RavensWe are now down to our final four teams left in the NFL with two of these teams advancing to the most ultimate game of the year in any sports, Super Bowl 46. Who will walk out as the NFC & AFC Champions defending their conference in Indianapolis as they looked to be crowned as World Champions? With that being said here is the preview & predictions for this weekend’s upcoming NFL playoff games:

Baltimore Ravens vs. New England Patriots

Unlike the NFC Championship Game I did see that this could come to fruition come the end of the year for the AFC. I really like Baltimore’s chances while not many people did and of course you can never count out nor discredit Tom Brady & these New England Patriots. These are the two best teams in the AFC and I cannot wait to see them battle it out for the AFC Championship this Sunday.

Baltimore enters this game looking extremely shaky after they barely beat a Houston Texans team in the Divisional round that was not 100%. The Ravens offense is extremely questionable while you know what you will get with the Ravens defense. Joe Flacco needs to play like a franchise quarterback as his Ravens are now one win away from the Super Bowl. The same goes for Ray Rice who was almost non-existent against the Houston Texans in the Divisional round. Too many question marks could prove as a problem for the Ravens as they enter New England.

The New England Patriots are who we thought they are. They are an offensive juggernaut of a machine and know how to throw, catch and run with the ball at all top notch cylinders. I have bashed this team for most of the 2nd half of the season for not being battle tested and now they will be against Baltimore this Sunday. This will be a very strong test for this veteran team as I am beginning to think that Tom Brady is getting back on top of that NFL mountain as they are knocking on the Super Bowl’s door.

I went out on a limb at the beginning of the season by picking the Baltimore Ravens to go to the Super Bowl. I liked the pick because I believe this is the last hurrah for this current defense and the window for success is closing for this team due to the defense getting older. I believed Joe Flacco and Ray Rice would be household names & while you know who they are, they certainly aren’t Tom Brady. The Patriots are a team who is clicking at the right time and their defense showed up to play against an offense that the Steelers defense could not contain. If that becomes the case for the Patriots for the rest of the season then they are going to be celebrating in New England.

It’s tough for me to call but I am going to stick to my guns and stay with the Baltimore Ravens for my pre-season pick to be the AFC Champions.

Prediction: Ravens 21 Patriots 10

New York Giants vs. San Francisco 49ers

Who would’ve thought that the final two teams in the NFC would be the San Francisco 49ers and the New York Football Giants? These are two teams who were all but written off during the off-season and I had in my preview these two teams not even being in the playoffs. I was wrong and both these teams have worked incredibly hard throughout the year to get to this point to represent the NFC in Super Bowl 46.

San Francisco comes into this game with the best defense in the NFC and welcoming the New York Giants into their house. The Niners played incredibly well against the New Orleans Saints and despite the Saints putting up 32 points against their defense the 49ers were still able to outscore the Saints, something I did not think they could do against one of the highest powered offenses in Football. The 49ers have had their question marks on the offensive side of the ball and put those question marks to rest after defeating the Saints. Alex Smith is for real and it is time he deserves the respect for the 49ers success, something I did not give him at all this year.

The hottest team in the NFL is the New York Football Giants. They have won literally four straight elimination games to get to this point and are now a win away from playing for the Lombardi trophy. The Giants are playing top notch on both sides of the ball and may be the best of the remaining four teams playing Football at this point. Momentum is so big in playoffs and the Giants have all of that going for them after their huge win against the Packers this past weekend. Watch out for the Giants as they enter San Francisco.

Like I said before, I cannot believe these two teams are playing for the NFC Championship this season. But in any case they are and they deserve it & have earned it. This game will prove to be a defensive battle and one that will come down to the final quarter. New York is on a roll right now and I can’t bet against this team right now. I like the Giants chances as they enter San Francisco as they can win home or away and do it convincingly. New York will be heading to Indianapolis to play for it all this season as they represent the NFC as their Champions.

Prediction: Giants 24 Niners 17
