Before I get started, I would like to say that I have been going through a personal upheaval this year. Therefore, I wish to apologize to my readers for not being as productive on this blog as usual. Sometimes life throws you some real challenges that you must deal with, and blogging will take a back seat. I thank my editor, Eric Gargiulo, and you my readers for your patience.
That being said, I hope that the new year, 2014 will be a lot better for me personally, and as a blogger. I hope to be able to blog a lot more often as I once did, as I have some fun topics in mind. I would just like to wish my readers, and everyone here at CamelClutchBlog.com a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy Holiday Season. More importantly, I wish all a Happy New Year.
Now, I am ready to discuss the subject of my blog.
[adinserter block=”1″]On Sunday, December 15, 2013, at the Toyota Center, in Houston, Texas, WWE will be presenting the TLC: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs PPV. The PPV is highlighted with the gimmick match of the famous, and dangerous TLC Match, where the opponents beat each other up, using tables, ladders and chairs, until one person climbs a ladder to get the title hanging above the ring. This type of match was made famous by the tag teams Edge and Christian, The Dudley Boyz, and the Hardy Boyz.
This year’s PPV features a main event that in my opinion, should be showcased at WrestleMania 30 in New Orleans, LA. John Cena (World Champion) and Randy Orton (WWE Champion) will participate in a TLC match, where the two matches will be unified. I will have much more to say later. Also featured will be Natalya vs AJ (Diva’s Champ), and CM Punk vs. the Shield. The build for the PPV was a little lackluster, until the last two weeks. The go home Raw, particularly John Cena’s awesome promo, in my opinion, sold some buys. I really thought it was one of Cena’s best.
Well, without further ado, here is my preview for the TLC PPV.
Kickoff Match: Dolph Ziggler vs Fandango
My goodness. Is Dolph Ziggler still in the proverbial doghouse? I don’t know what has happened to him lately. One minute, folks are praising (deservedly) Ziggler’s work in the ring, and it looks like Ziggler will be the next one elevated. Now, he is in the kickoff match with Fandango. Fandango, in my opinion, is just stuck in a bad gimmick. I think he has some talent, but I am personally tired of the ballroom dancing gimmick.
I think this match could be a pretty decent match. It should be a fun match. I don’t honestly think this will be a five star match, or anything. It will be something to warm up the crowd.
Prediction: Dolph Ziggler
Diva’s Championship Match: AJ Lee (C) vs Natalya
It is about time that Natalya gets a shot at AJ’s title. I have always liked Natalya. She is an awesome wrestler. It is also about time that AJ gets to work a PPV match with one of the very few Diva’s that can actually put on a match. Fortunately, we have a match that does NOT involved the Bella Twins. I know that Natalya is on that “Total Divas” show, but Natalya, unlike the Bellas, can actually wrestle.
As for AJ Lee, what are they doing with her? It looks like to me that they are putting her in the background. Then again, WWE is pushing the Bellas because of that show. Don’t even get me started on that “Diva of the Year” Slammy Award. That award should have gone to AJ Lee. Period. I mean, who was voting, 13 year old kids? Of course, the Bellas’ boyfriends won stuff also, so I was not surprised. I mean,AJ was the champ. She made the belt credible. I think she should have won “Diva of the Year.”
As for the match, I think it will be pretty decent, depending on how much time they get. I hope they get more than 3 minutes. Natalya and AJ Lee can put on a good match. The audience deserves to see good wrestling.
Prediction: AJ Lee retains her Championship
Intercontinental Championship: Big E. Langston (C) vs Damien Sandow
I am very happy that Langston got the Intercontinental Championship. Langston is coming along nicely as a wrestler. His character development is doing well also. I was not a huge fan of his at first, but over the months, I noticed a lot of improvement. I hope that he keeps up the good work he is doing.
Sandow is a good worker also. However, I think his character has lost some direction. The feud is just alright. I hope these two keep going, and that the feud develops a little better. I am expecting just a passable match. I don’t think it will be anything special.
Prediction: Langston (C) retains.
CM Punk vs The Shield (3 on 1 Handicap Match)
This should be a very interesting match. Punk wants to take on all three members of the Shield, as he thought the Authority was behind the Hounds of Justice’s attack on him (Punk) earlier on Raw. Corporate Kane claimed there wasn’t any collusion, and made this match. I am expecting a fantastic match between these four participants.
CM Punk is reportedly dealing with various injuries, but I still expect him to perform at a high level in a big match situation. Punk is a tough guy, and a professional. The members of the Shield are amazing performers. There are reportedly big things for Roman Reigns as a singles stars down the line, as well. I am expecting this match to potentially steal the show.
Prediction: CM Punk puts up a hell of a fight, but the Shield wins.
Daniel Bryan vs the Wyatt Family (3 on 1 Handicap Match)
The Wyatt Family is one of the groups that I still am trying to figure out. I get that Bray Wyatt is trying to pattern his character after Robert DeNiro’s character in “Cape Fear,” but I guess this is one group I won’t understand. Evidently, it appears that they are haunting Daniel Bryan. The Wyatt Family have gone so far as to kidnap Bryan. It seems to me that the group wants Bryan to join them, and Bryan does not want to join (if I were Bryan, I would not want to join either) the scary group.
At this PPV, Daniel Bryan is in a 3 on 1 handicap match. From watching the members wrestle, they do very well. Bray Wyatt is particularly good. I know that Daniel Bryan is going to get the group of them through this match. I love Daniel Bryan as a wrestler. I expect a very good match from the four of them.
Prediction: The Wyatt Family win.
WWE Tag Team Championship (Four Way): Goldust & Cody Rhodes (C) vs. The Real Americans vs. Ryback & Curtis Axel vs. Big Show & Rey Mysterio.
Judging from all of these teams’ run-ins against each other, it looks like to me that this match was just thrown together. This looks like a fun, entertaining match. Fans get to see Rey Mysterio’s return to PPV, and Rey won’t have to work the entire match. Everyone in the show will be able to get their spots in. I don’t think the title changes hands here. This match may just be a buffer match. This match is also away to get these guys on the PPV as well. I am expecting a pretty good match.
Prediction: Goldust and Rhodes retain.
Tables, Ladders, and Chairs Match: John Cena (World Heavyweight Champion) vs Randy Orton (WWE Champion)
Well, here we are. We are at a “B” PPV, and WWE puts on a match that should be at Wrestlemania 30. I am talking about a TLC match where the winner grabs BOTH BELTS, and is the UNIFIED, UNDISPUTED champion. Why WWE did this, I don’t know. I know this is Christmas time. I know it is the holidays. I know WWE MUST have a PPV in December. Why they MUST, I don’t know. Why MUST they put such a stipulation that should be for the “Showcase of the Immortals” in a PPV that means nothing? This is just ridiculous.
Over the past few months, Randy Orton, the WWE Champion, has been the favorite of the Authority. Recently, John Cena, the World Champion, came up with this great idea of one champion, so on Sunday, WWE is supposed to have one champion. I wonder though, with that last segment on the go home RAW, if there is going to be a swerve. I wonder, with Orton accidentally slamming into Stephanie McMahon, and John Cena being by HHH, and Stephanie’s side, will there be some sort of screw-job. Heck, will both guys just grab each others belts, and we start all over again?
[adinserter block=”2″]As for the match, I think we will see a pretty decent match. I expect some sort of screwball ending. I really hope not, because Cena really cut a great promo on the go home RAW that even had ME thinking about getting the PPV. WWE fans really spend so much money on WWE PPVs, that I really feel bad when they get screwball endings, or no ending.
As far as which one will win, for me, it is the less of two evils. I honestly am sick of both Orton and Cena. Both men are stale, as far as their characters. However, we are stuck with them, because WWE has forgotten how to push someone (see Daniel Bryan and CM Punk) so they are ready for the next level. Orton is very boring. His promos are terrible. Wrestling wise, he can put on pretty decent matches. Cena, as we saw on Monday, can put on excellent promos. I just wish he’d stick to them. His wrestling is what it is.
Prediction: John Cena becomes the Unified Champion.
That is my predictions for the PPV. I hope you enjoyed the blog.
