What does it say about World Wrestling Entertainment when one of the biggest matches in Triple H vs. The Undertaker, and what should be the biggest feud in the company between the top heel, The Miz and top babyface John Cena is over shadowed with the rival between play by play announcer Michael Cole and color commentator Jerry Lawler? This feud says two things.
This match has the potential to be one of the biggest flop matches at WrestleMania 27. It is not clear how many fans really care about this feud and, I believe most fans don’t expect a clean finish since Steve Austin is the special guest referee.
One question most wrestling fans have is okay, after Lawler wins at WrestleMania, now what? What happens with Michael Cole? Will he come out and sincerely apologize and he and Jerry become friends again? Or will WWE keep him off television for a few months to “sell his injuries” and go back to the two man commentating team of Josh Matthews and Jerry Lawler, or will we see Jim Ross coming back for a period of time at the announce table?
I am glad to see that Jerry Lawler is finally getting a match at WrestleMania in what actually has been interesting, intriguing, unpredictable, and a fun feud to watch every week on Raw. Jerry Lawler, the legend that he is, and all his accomplishments in the business and for the business, really deserves better on the grandest stage of them all. Lawler to have a real match at the one and only event he has never wrestled at.
