Matt Hardy Arrested On Drug Charges After Raid

Matt Hardy mug shotThe downward spiral of former WWE and TNA wrestling star Matt Hardy continues. Matt posted a video on Monday announcing he was going to rehab. What he failed to mention was that his home was recently raided and he is up on a number of drug charges.

I have gotten bored of Matt Hardy and stopped blogging about him recently. However, this is a story that just can’t be ignored. Hardy is facing several drug charges after a raid on September 14. ThePilot.com has the details on their website.

Hardy was charged with possession with intent to sell/deliver schedule III controlled substance (anabolic steroids), possession of schedule I controlled substance (Ecstasy), maintain a place to keep controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The story also says that the cops seized 20 vials of anabolic steroids, one dosage of ecstasy, drug paraphernalia, and $1900 cash. Hardy was released but will appear in court on September 29 to answer the charges.

As most of you are probably aware, Jeff Hardy recently plead guilty to two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and one count of conspiracy to traffic in a substance containing opium. Jeff will be spending 10 days in jail, serve probation, and pay a $100,000 fine for his troubles.

Whether it was just bad timing or hitting rock bottom, Matt’s life appeared to start falling apart a few weeks ago after he was picked up for a DWI. Hardy has had a few other incidents after that and appeared to be on the right path to cleaning himself up after posting a video a few weeks ago. At that time Hardy said he wanted to open up a rehabilitation center. That was September 1. His house was raided on September 14, so any questions about his intentions were well worth asking.

Matt also recently announced his retirement from being a full time professional wrestler. Matt cited numerous injuries and his issues as the reason behind this. Jeff on the other hand continues working for TNA Wrestling. Jeff recently appeared on an episode of Impact Wrestling although he isn’t on any upcoming shows as of this date.

I am no lawyer but I don’t see much coming out of this for Matt Hardy. $1900 in cash for a guy who often gets paid in cash for appearances and 1 dosage of Ecstasy hardly makes someone a drug dealer. The 20 vials of steroids will get him into some trouble but it is hardly anything that will get him any serious time. More than likely he will walk away from this with a misdemeanor.

What would be interesting is if Matt actually did get charged with a felony. I have no idea what the exact terms of Jeff’s probation are, but I can’t imagine that he would be allowed to associate with a fellow felon convicted of similar offenses. Again I don’t see that happening, but it would be a crushing blow for a family that already has enough things to worry about.

Update: According to police reports obtained by TMZ.com, Matt’s girlfriend Reby Sky blew the whistle on her boyfriend. “According to search warrant docs obtained by TMZ, It all started with a 911 call last Wednesday — placed by Matt’s model girlfriend, Reby Sky, who was worried Matt “was strung out on pills and needed help.
