Kofi Kingston Wins The WWE Intercontinental Title – Video

Kofi Kingston has earned himself some gold this week by defeating The Miz on WWE Main Event to become the new intercontinental champion. Kingston’s reign marks the 137th I-C title reign and his fourth as champion.

Kingston defeated The Miz and ended his brief 85 day run of terror as intercontinental champion earlier in the week. I was excited when I heard the news as I have always been a big Kofi fan. Quite frankly I can’t recall seeing many bad Kofi Kingston matches over the last few years. Matches with Dolph Ziggler and Daniel Bryan specifically have been nothing short of great.

I’d like to see Kofi get a lengthy run as champion. I’d also like to see this morph into a WWE championship program with CM Punk, should Punk retain against Ryback at Hell in a Cell. I think Punk and Kofi could have some really good matches. Kofi has never been able to break through to that top echelon, sans a very brief program at the top with Randy Orton.

Thanks to You Tube the WWE has posted the remaining minutes of the match online. I wouldn’t call it necessarily a classic match, but it was exciting for what it was. It was also nice to see the WWE throw a title change up on something other than a pay per view or WWE RAW.

Enjoy the match and let’s hope for a lengthy reign of Kofi Kingston as I-C champion.
