King Kong Bundy is making the news for some interesting comments he made in a recent interview. The former WWE headliner offered candid thoughts, some of which are quite interesting coming from a former main-eventer.
Bundy was a recent guest on Vince Russo’s podcast. Russo delivered a very entertaining interview with the former WrestleMania 2 headliner. Bundy talked about the ups and downs of his career, his WWE peers, and much more. Here are some of the highlights of the conversation.
“I was a young kid. That was a brilliant run (his 1984 run). I will never forget that for as long as I live. The business was on its ass. You couldn’t put people on a seat with a crowbar and I’m sitting around watching Barry Horowitz doing interviews and I was doing none. I was there for almost 18 months but they didn’t do anything with me. Vince called me and said he was going to give me a super push. I went back and got nothing. That is a very cold place when they are not doing anything with you. I’m watching Barry Horowitz, nothing against Barry Horowitz, I like him, he has no business in professional business, but I like him. I’m watching Horowitz do interviews and I’m doing none.”
Bundy had a big run in the 1980s with Andre the Giant. I remember as a kid seeing those matches hyped on television and getting excited. Unfortunately the matches didn’t deliver, as you can see watching them via YouTube or the Network. Bundy wasn’t a big fan either and was asked about working with Andre.
“You really want to know? Absolutely miserable. Andre The Giant was not a nice man…”
On the contrary, Bundy was a big fan of working with Hulk Hogan. I never knew this but Bundy told Russo that it was Hogan who got him his job with the WWE.
“Hulk got me my job and always took care of me. He was always good to me.”
The most controversial thing said during this interview was when Bundy was asked about Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels as WWE world champions. Bundy was not a fan.
I am sure that won’t make Bret Hart very happy. He also had some negative things to say about the Macho Man Randy Savage, somewhat tasteless in my opinion now that he has passed.
