Julius Randle scored 46 points in the Knick’s victory over the Kings
The Knicks were really desperate for a win and it was their star man which came through against the Sacramento Kings. The Knicks were playing very well with RJ Barrett and Julius Randle leading the way for the team.
Although they had a couple of close losses and the pressure was mounting up as the team had lost their last 7 games before finally winning one against the Clippers. Knicks lost 3-4 games by a point or less and that really hurt their playoffs aspirations.
Randle decided to take things into his own hands and erupted for a career-high 46 points against the Kings. This now is the second consecutive victory for the team after a 7 game losing streak.
Julius Randle and the Knicks blew the Kings in the second half of the game
The contest was not even a tightly contested one until the 2nd quarter. In fact, the Knicks were trailing by 15 points at the halftime break. What was most impressive was how the Knicks were able to get on a run in the third quarter.
Randle had a tough opponent in form of Sabonis but still, he lead the way for the Knicks with 33 points in the second half of the game. The Knicks went on a 33-17 run in the 3rd quarter with Randle, Barrett, and Quickly raining threes on the Kings.
The Knicks converted seven 3-pointers, three by Randle, to surge into an 81-80 lead with 4:34 left in the third quarter and gradually pulled away from there to win comfortably.

If you look at the scoring, Quickly, Barrett and Randle made contributed 102 points for the Knicks. Barrett had 29 points while QUickly contributed 27 coming off the bench.
Randle was very efficient with his shooting with his Field Goal % at 52.4% for the game and 50% from 3. It looks like the big man is heating up from the 3 point line as he dropped some bombs against the Nets too.
With a young core, a lot of the responsibility will shoulder on Julius’s back as he is among the most experienced players in the squad. The Knicks will be hoping to string together a run of wins on the back of this impressive comeback.
Can the Knicks make the Play-ins?
As of now, the Knicks stand at the 12 positions in the Eastern Conference. They have to move 2 spots at least to even have a chance for the Playoffs. Although the hawks are in the 10 places and it will be difficult to overcome them.
Also, there is around a 6-7 win gap between the Knicks and a playoffs spot. The only chance for the team is that they go on a run here and put some pressure on the higher seeds.
If you look at the Knicks it has to start with the Defense and some senior players like Randle, Fournier, and Barrett will have to be the leaders for the team. The Knicks do have games against the higher seeds in their conference so their fate is in their own hands.
