The “first couple” of the WWE are in some hot water. Pro Wrestling Torch reports that John Morrison was so angry that Trish Stratus got the WrestleMania 27 spot over his girlfriend Melina that he was difficult to work with. Reportedly his Starship has landed in the dog house. Nothing like throwing a temper tantrum on the biggest show of the year.
This is some story that Wade Keller and the boys broke over at the Torch. The story reports that John Morrison and Melina are angry because they feel that Trish Stratus stole her spot in the six-person tag team match at WrestleMania 27. The story reports that Morrison repeatedly gave Stratus the cold shoulder and wasn’t very cooperative in putting spots together. His actions weren’t unnoticed and the former Tough Enough winner now finds himself with a ton of heat in the WWE locker room.
“Behind the scenes, Morrison rejected various ideas Stratus had for their match at WrestleMania XXVII, and was said to be very difficult to work with. His outright refusal to comply with any of her suggestions reportedly hurt her feelings. Word quickly spread amongst the locker room, garnering heat.”
[adinserter block=”2″]I had to read those a few times because I can’t imagine that someone in his position would be that ignorant or stupid. If what Keller says is true, Morrison is truly an idiot. What is even more troublesome for Morrison is that Trish Stratus is one of the most popular divas in the company. Additionally, Stratus’ biggest fans are the veterans who arguably have the most pull in the locker room. Unfortunately for Morrison and Melina they messed with the wrong chick!
Anyone doubting this story needs to go back and watch the end of the six-person match at WrestleMania. After the match Stratus looks to hug Morrison who turned his back on her. You know you have some serious issues when you are in a match with Snooki and you are the least professional one in the ring.
The story also reports that Stratus was hurt by the action and expressed her frustrations with several co-workers. Word spread fast and both Melina and Morrison are in hot water. For Melina, this is nothing new. Melina seems to be in and out of the dog house more than anyone over the course of the last several years in the WWE.
[adinserter block=”1″]Morrison definitely has his fans and seemed to reignite his star power after an exceptional showing at the 2011 Royal Rumble. Vince McMahon has never been big on pushing Morrison after Batista stole Morrison’s girlfriend (Melina) and Morrison just sat back and watched it. The PWTorch.com story claims that this has happened numerous times and even says that Morrison has accompanied Melina on some of these dates. Believe it or not, that is far from the craziest thing I have heard in wrestling especially after you hear stories about Jerry Lawler and The Kat back in the day.
If this story is true it is utterly ridiculous of Morrison and Melina to a) compare Melina with the diva portrayed as the “Diva of the Decade,” and b) Morrison to risk his spot over something so petty. This would also explain Steve Austin’s reaction on Tough Enough when one of the contestants told him that her favorite match was Melina vs. Alicia Fox. When I first saw it I thought that it was a pretty low blow to someone currently on the roster. Now it makes sense.
UPDATE: Trish Stratus confirmed all of this in an interview on the Busted Open show. “I got a bit of cold shoulder action, correct. John Morrison himself is amazing. He’s a great athlete. I was really looking forward to working with him. I thought it would be cool if we could do some stuff together. He didn’t think it would be that cool. It happens.
“Hey whatever. It happens. You know he’s into his thing and just didn’t think that I should part of his thing I guess, but I still admire him as an athlete, as a performer. I think he does a great job out there. Cold shoulder? Yeah I felt it. I was shunned. Some people are not smart maybe? You know they wrestle well, but maybe they’re not smart. I don’t know.” – Thanks to Prowrestling.net for the transcription.
