John Cena Cuts Promo On The Rock At WWE House Show

John Cena house show promoThe WrestleMania 28 hype for The Rock vs. John Cena continued on the most recent WWE tour of Australia. Following a win over R-Truth, Cena addressed the hecklers chanting for The Rock and cut one of his best promos of the year on Dwayne Johnson.

Here is all of the proof you need that the WWE needs to let their WWE superstars ditch the scripted promos and go back to cutting promos from the heart. I can’t believe that anyone scripted this John Cena promo on The Rock so my assumption is that this promo was 100% Cena just winging it. Taking that into consideration, this was one hell of a promo that was never even meant to be seen by the majority of the WWE Universe.

Here is a partial transcript of what the WWE champion said in response to the fans in Perth, Australia booing him and cheering for The Rock. Watch the video below for the entire John Cena promo. Thanks to InsideWrestling.com for the partial transcript.

Where is the so called captain of Team Bring It?,” Cena asked. “And if he is the captain of Team Bring It, what are they bringing a doctor’s note that he can’t fly all the way to Australia and entertain the WWE Universe out here in Perth?

I don’t care if I’ve got to play G.I. Joe, Fast Five, Fast Six, Godzilla, King Kong, and Julius Caesar all rolled into one, I want to be in the middle of this ring, defending this championship in front of all of you, because I am not an actor, I am a professional wrestler. That is what I do because of crowds like you.

So if you cried (inaudible) tears for an actor to get back in the ring, you take your tears and your t-shirt with a bull, fold them up real nice, put them in your dresser and wait until April 1st because that is the only time The People’s Champ will say that he loves all of you. But tonight from myself, from all the WWE Superstars who flew 20 hours to be here in front of you, I simply say thank you.

Not only was the content of the promo fantastic, but Cena’s intensity was unbelievable. After seeing this I am convinced that Cena could even be a bigger draw for the WWE if they would ditch those corny jokes and the lame satire they ask him to deliver on Monday nights and just let him go off like the great pro wrestling legends of years past. This promo right here in my opinion is better than anything that has been scripted for Cena to say about Dwayne Johnson during their current feud.

I also love seeing this kind of stuff happen at WWE house shows. The house show market is down and a big part of that is that fans show up and see a watered down version of WWE RAW. Why come back when you can save your money and watch a better show for free on Monday nights? I think the WWE should not only do this kind of stuff on a regular basis, giving the fans more than just the house show formula.

Additionally I think the WWE should encourage fans to take video of the event and post it on the WWE Facebook page and Twitter. In return the WWE could offer prizes and show clips of the videos on their website, You Tube page, and even the television broadcasts on special occasion (like this one). In this new world of social media the WWE could really utilize it to get the buzz about their house shows and in turn make them the must-see events they used to be.

Regardless, I think this is a great promo and I hope that we see more promos like this from Cena on upcoming editions of RAW.
