Updated: Jerry Lawler Suffers Heart Attack At WWE Monday Night RAW

Jerry LawlerA strange situation occurred at Monday Night RAW tonight. All of the sudden things got strange during a match and it didn’t take long for word to spread of a terrible incident. Jerry the King Lawler passed out at the broadcast booth and had to be helped to the back.

All kinds of reports were hitting the Internet about Lawler and sadly, none were good. I actually have a friend that had someone in the locker room give him the latest updates. Lawler apparently passed out, fell out of his chair, and threw up at ringside. Lawler was stretchered to the back and received CPR. Lawler was later rushed to the hospital. It was reported that he was able to breathe on his own which was a positive sign for all. Lawler improved throughout the night.

There is no real good way to handle a situation like this. It is a real shock that in 1,000 live episodes of RAW that they were able to avoid anything close to this kind of ordeal. Michael Cole eventually addressed the audience at home on Lawler’s condition.

I want to preface this by saying that this is not part of tonight’s entertainment, this is a real-life situation. My broadcast colleague, Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler, earlier on tonight collapsed mid-match while on commentary. He fell out of his chair to the floor below. Doctors were here immediately. Emergency personnel stretchered him out of the arena to the back where he received CPR. We were told when he left the building to a medical center he was breathing on his own. He was of course receiving oxygen.

We now have an update that — we pray to God, it is a bit more encouraging — we’re being told that Jerry is more responsive as we speak. He is reacting to lights, how the doctors put the lights in your eyes, reacting to the lights in his eyes. He is in isolated ER, the isolated portion of the emergency room as we speak. He is awaiting a CAT scan. We are told that in typical Jerry Lawler fashion, he is fighting hard. Again, King, pull through this. Our thoughts and prayers are with you… Come on King, get through this!

Cole looked terrible and was visibly shaken up. Cole later come back and said out of respect to the King the show would continue without commentary. Cole returned later to give a positive update on Lawler.

[adinserter block=”1″]I grew up as a wrestling fan in the 1980s. The only way to follow the different wrestling organizations back then were through magazines. I remember being particularly interested in Lawler. The magazines had pictures of Lawler every month beating all of the biggest names in the business. Once I started getting videotapes I became a bigger fan. Years later I met Lawler several times and he was always a gentleman and a lot of fun. I am pulling for the King.

Lawler was breathing on his own and awaiting a CAT scan as the night was closing. While it is certainly not official at this writing, all indications appear to be that Lawler may have suffered a stroke or heart attack. Cole closed the show telling the fans that Lawler is alert and his heart is beating on its own. It sounds like Lawler is going to be okay. has released a statement. “During the tag team match between Kane & Daniel Bryan and The Prime Time Players tonight on Raw, viewers may have noticed members of the audience and WWE production team staring toward the commentary booth, as well as the absence of Jerry “The King” Lawler’s voice. has learned that the WWE Hall of Famer collapsed at the announcers’ table and was tended to in the locker room area by WWE medical staff. Lawler was then taken from the arena to a medical facility in Montreal.

We will have updates on Lawler’s condition as this story progresses.”

Update – From Brian Christopher Lawler – “Ok, here’s the latest real update. Lauren and I are here at the hospital in Montreal. He does not look good at all. He is responsive to questions that he is asked which is very good. His sedation and breathing support are being lowered slowly right now. He was shocked a total of 7 times at the arena and underwent a balloon stint to open up a clogged artery when he arrived at hospital. Everyone out there needs to say a special prayer for his brain at this point, please. Tests on his brain will not be available until the morning. One of us two will keep all you guys informed as we know more.

Update # 2 – From Lawler’s ex-wife Stacy Karter – “Great news for Jerry!!! The rumors are true. The results from the test are in. He has NO brain damage!!!! I’m not sure what the next step is or when he can go home, but this is such awesome news!!!!!”

    • Michael Cole is asked during that interview if Jerry is too old to be wrestling anymore. Cole says No because he passed some tests. Well obviously the tests aren't good enough and he IS too old to be wrestling if he has a Heart Attack soon after the bout. What does he think they're unconnected!? Is he just a moron!??!
