Is Taboo Returning for Season 2? Expected Release Date, Cast And More

Although Deadline reports that Tom Hardy’s “devil Delaney” would move west after getting his vengeance on London in the elegant and terrifying first season of Taboo, the eccentric historical drama featuring Hardy as well as Peaky Blinders producer Steven Knight might possibly be reuniting for a season 2.

The brutal BBC drama was formally confirmed by the channel for a season 2 back in March 2017.

Even though the program has been running for five years without an end in sight, viewers’ lingering issues remain unanswered. The first final season of the show must address these concerns.

“We’re thrilled that people want to know how this happens next and that the BBC and FX are up for more excursions with the devil Delaney and the league of the damned,”

Taboo Season 2 Renewed at HBO

BBC One has ordered a second season of Taboo, which is now in development. Officially, the second season of Taboo has been given the green light.

Season 2 of Taboo won’t air until mid-2023 at the latest, based on the current schedule.

Season 2 of Taboo hasn’t been given an official date since filming hasn’t yet commenced. As for the second season of the program, Knight posted an insight on it in December 2021, indicating that the bulk was written.

“six of the eight [episodes] have been written” and that they are “working on getting all of the stars to align so that we can get our star [Hardy] back on set.”

Taboo Season 2 Expected Cast

  • James Keziah Delaney is played by Tom Hardy.
  • Lorna Delaney (née Bow) is played by Jessie Buckley.
  • Dr. George Cholmondeley is played by Tom Holland.
  • Atticus Finch is played by Stephen Graham.
  • Michael Godfrey is played by Edward Hogg.
  • Prince George, the Prince Regent, is played by Mark Gatiss.
  • Scroobius Pip in the role of French Bill.

Taboo Season 2 Plot

When Delaney and the crew return for season two, it’s predicted that Hardy’s quirky character would discover further about his dead mother’s Native American background and reclaim the Nootka Sound area, which functioned as the scene for all of the season’ events in America and Canada.

James’ tattoo enigma and his encounters with the East India Company as well as Mark Gatiss’ Prince Regent continue unanswered, all of which we may anticipate seeing in upcoming installments of the show.

Esquire interviewed Hardy in August 2021, and he had some suggestions for season 2: “You could still go linearly which would have been a continuance of time; you can drop before to London, or you might quantum-leap over time!!.”

We’re still playing around with new concepts. A number of those have already been written and, although it’s possible to pursue the typical path, I’m not convinced that it would be the wisest course of action.

“Alternatively, should we go back to the 1800s? What are the Napoleonic Wars? ‘Was it the American Revolutionary War?’ But nothing has crossed my heart, mind, or desk that has caused me to exclaim, “That’s it!” So I’m putting out the fire.”
