This one looks promising so far!
It’s not every day you see incidents like these. In today’s scene of TV shows and series having an unpredictable future, you can never know when they get canceled or dropped. Most shows are first monitored while they are airing and depending on their scores, the company decides whether to renew them for the next season or not.
However, this seems to be a rare case when it comes to HBO’s House of the Dragon. What’s so rare you ask? Well apparently, the spin-off prequel series of Game of Thrones has already been renewed for a second season, and that too happened months before the release date of its first season.
A piece of news like this makes you anticipate good things about the show. Anyways here’s what we know about it so far:
What Is ‘House of the Dragon’?
House of the Dragon is the up-and-coming American TV series of the fantasy drama genre. The series is a spin-off of the popular Game of Thrones TV show. House of the Dragon takes place in the same world as Game of Thrones however, the story will be taking place centuries before the events of Game of Thrones.
The series is set to feature the ancestors of Daenerys Targaryen and is based on the popular book Fire and Blood by George R.R. Martin from the year 2019. We will witness the events 200 years before what happened in Game of Thrones that will feature mad kings and the signature beast of the show, Dragons. Lots and lots of Dragons.
Renewal for Season 2
House of the Dragon season 1 is scheduled for premiere in August 2022 however, even more, exciting news recently surfaced that claims that the show has been possibly renewed for a second season already. This news was already hinted at a few months ago in an interview with Casey Bloys, the CCO of HBO by THR.
At that time Bloys said: “Typically speaking, I like to take an approach where we will talk about what a second season might look like and talk about scripts. But we tend to like to see how a show performs. That said, if I were betting, I’d say there’s a pretty good shot that House of the Dragon will get a season two.”
He also added: “But we tend to like things to air and give it some time. That said, on most shows, we’ll do the preparation and put ourselves in a good position to move forward.”
Early renewal of a show like this could only mean good things for the show as well as the audience. This only adds to the hype for the first season which was already at an all-time high. We can surely expect good things from the show.
