Haikyuu is a manga series written by Haruichi Furudate. Being one of the greatest sports manga series ever, both the manga and its anime adaptation is top-notch.
The anime focuses on a boy, Shoyo Hinata, aspiring to be a great volleyball player but was doubtful about it because of his short height. But one day he catches a glimpse of a match of Karasuno High School playing in Nationals on TV. He became inspired by the ‘Little Giant’ of Karasuno High, as Hinata instantly related himself to the famous wing spiker because of the same short stature they share.

Haikyuu Season 5: Expected Plot
Season 5 of the show is expected to continue with the events after the match of the last season. At the end of the season, Hinata promises to give Kenma a match he would remember, knowing the difficulty in engaging Kenma to be invested in a competition.
The focus might shift to Fukurodani Academy, which is currently a top-four team in Tokyo. The season might describe Bokuto’s explosive playing style. Bokuto is among the top five aces in the nation, barely missing the top three.
There are so many possibilities, and the expectations are pretty high for the upcoming season.
Why Haikyuu is one of the greatest sports anime ever?
Human intelligence increases by 3 IQ points every decade, according to a UK study. This means, probably you will be smarter than your parents, and the probability increases, even more, when you are put against your grandparents, theoretically at least. But is that the case with our physical strength and physical activity? We stand nowhere close to our ancestors when it comes to our physical capabilities.
There could be many reasons for this, but the leading problem is our mindset. The popularity and the impact of Haikyuu!! can be understood by the following story.
In Japan, the number of students participating in Volleyball clubs was decreasing every year. In 2012 alone, there was a drastic decrease of 5% of remaining volleyball players. But all of a sudden in 2013 the number of new enrollment for the game grew by a significant amount. The number of enrollments was more than the players getting rolled out of the game. The enrollment got even more in 2014 but in 2015, the numbers skyrocketed.
Two events influenced these changes, the Haikyuu manga release in February 2012 and its anime adaptation being aired in April 2014. If a story can affect a sport on a national level then it deserves a watch and popularity.
