Getting the Proper Cycling Apparel

Did you know that the average person burns approximately 600 calories in a single spin class lasting approximately 40 minutes, which supersedes any other aerobic class by at least 200 calories? The only difference is the fitness apparel necessary to really enjoy your workout. I’ve been a spinner for years, and whenever I saw people come into the class with the cycling shoes and silly looking butt pad, I just thought it was a joke. I am very sensible with my money and refused to purchase these unnecessary items.

Cycling apparel on

About a year ago I received a gift certificate to Modell’s Sporting Goods, which would have been AWESOME if it were given to me about 4 years ago, when I actually played sports! So, I had this gift card, didn’t need anything from Modell’s and my boyfriend said why not try those cycling shoes you always refused to buy….genius! I bought the shoes and the padded butt shorts….yes, I got the padded shorts! And I couldn’t be happier!

I had to pay out of pocket about $15, because the gift care didn’t cover everything, but I couldn’t be happier with my decision. I purchased the Shimano brand shoe, which seems to be the most popular among my fellow cyclers. When I used to cycle in regular sneakers my feet and ankles would bother me a bit during and even after the class. With my cycling shoes, I never have any ankle or foot discomfort due to the solid base of the shoe.

Anyone who’s ever tried cycling for the first time knows that your butt can get so sore; an area you never thought you could hurt gets beat up! But not with my padded shorts! And more importantly, I can use any bike! I don’t need to check if the shoe straps work, because cycling shoes snap right into place….so convenient!

So, if you’re on the fence about buying cycling shoes or that silly butt pad….just do it!
