American band Foo Fighter’s drummer Taylor Hawkins has passed away, the band revealed. Taylor Hawkins was 50 years old when he died. The band made an official announcement for the same stating that they are devastated by the news. Foo Fighter stated, “devastated by the tragic and untimely loss”. Taylor was one of the finest drummers in the world.
The devastation is predictable enough as Taylor played for the band for more than two decades. Foo Fighters were formed in 1994 and soon after releasing the album “The color and the Shape”, Hawkins joined in 1997. On Friday night, the Foo Fighters were scheduled to perform at a festival in Bogota, Colombia. Hawkins’ final performance occurred on Sunday in San Isidro, Argentina, at another festival.
“His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live on with all of us forever,” stated a message sent to reporters via the band’s official Twitter account. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, children, and family.” Outside the hotel in northern Bogota where Hawkins was thought to be staying, police vehicles, an ambulance, and admirers gathered.
After his previous band Nirvana disintegrated following the suicide of lead vocalist Kurt Cobain, Dave Grohl formed Foo Fighters in 1994. While Grohl was drumming for Nirvana, he joined Foo Fighters to take on lead vocals and guitar, and Hawkins had the daunting job of drumming in a band created by one of rock’s most recognized drummers.
The embassy of the United States in Bogota extended its “sincerest sympathies” to the drummer’s family, friends, and admirers. When Taylor Hawkins’ death was announced, the crowd went mad and expressed their grief. Further on the internet too, Hawkins’ fans and followers are expressing their condolences after his death.
Hawkins’ popularity increased even more after Hawkins co-starred in Foo Fighters’ recently released horror comedy “Studio 666,” in which a demonic power seizes Grohl and turns him violent in a mansion where the band is staying. Hawkins and the rest of the band are eliminated one by one. The concept arose from their work on their tenth studio album in a Los Angeles residence. He also drummed and sang with Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders, a side project. In 2006, they released the album “Get the Money.”
Talking about Hawkins’s personal life, Hawkins was married to his wife Alison in 2005. Alison was the only person Hawkins married throughout his lifetime. The couple has three children together. Hawkins’s health condition majorly deteriorated first when he went into a coma for two weeks. Drug overdose led him into a coma for two weeks in August 2001.
The death of Hawkins is also suspected to be some intoxicants as he was found unconscious in his hotel room. The reason behind his death has not been confirmed or informed till now. Further, no news of foul play has been aired till now clearing the way out. But whatever the reason be, Hawkins’s death is a huge loss not only to his family but also to the whole music industry.
