Floyd Mayweather Jr. Returning To The WWE

Floyd Mayweather WWEHe can run from the Pac Man but he can’t hide from the Big Show. The WWE is bringing back a former WrestleMania headliner to run WWE RAW for one night. Boxing superstar, Floyd Mayweather Jr. is in charge next Monday and will be the second professional athlete to play WWE Guest Host.

Floyd Mayweather last appeared for the WWE at WrestleMania 24. Mayweather defeated the Big Show in a pro wrestling match. Mayweather was paid $20 million for the match. For WWE stock holder’s sakes, let’s hope they are getting him at a two for one bargain.

Thus far the WWE Guest Host idea has been a lot of misses with very few hits. The big hit was NBA All-Star Shaquille O’Neal a few weeks ago. Shaq even got into the action a little bit with the Big Show. The WWE has been trying to capitalize off of this in recent weeks by teasing a Shaq vs. Show match. It is reported that the WWE are trying to pull this off on a live edition of WWE RAW.

Unlike Shaq, Floyd is now a pro wrestling veteran. Mayweather’s run against the Big Show two years ago was mixed. Mayweather was booked as a babyface, but wound up playing a total heel by WrestleMania 24. Mayweather came off as a cocky outside who thought he was better than the WWE. Wrestling fans picked up on it and it presented an odd dynamic on television of a heel that was booked as a sympathetic figure.

Scooby Doo himself Freddie Prinze Jr. (what is it with all of these juniors?) will be in charge of WWE RAW tonight. The actor was on the WWE writing team up until a few months ago. It is a bit ironic that his first on-air appearance comes after he stops working for the WWE. The writers will be kicking themselves if he is a hit and they could have had him out there full time just a few months back.

I am excited about Money Mayweather coming back to the WWE. Most pro athletes tend to be WWE fans and seem to have a good time at these events. The fans also tend to take them a little more seriously than the other Guest Hosts. Shaq was a ratings hit with the WWE audience. I will predict that Money will break Shaq’s 4.0 rating.

I will also predict that Manny will break Money’s face if he ever decides to go back to his day job.
