Extended UFC 141: Brock Lesnar Vs. Alistair Overeem Preview

Brock Lesnar vs. Alistair OvereemIn anticipation of the gigantic UFC 141 heavyweight collision between Brock Lesnar vs. Alistair Overeem, the UFC has released an extended video preview for the event. According to Joe Rogan, this is “literally in the history of the heavyweight division.”

This video is simply awesome. It appears to be a highlight version of the upcoming UFC 141 Countdown show. The video features the usual UFC rhetoric from commentator Joe Rogan who proclaims every fight the greatest in UFC history as well as comments from both Brock and Overeem. The Lesnar vs. Overeem portion of the video plays just under 5 minutes and is worth every second of it.

The UFC is really pushing hard the striking of Alistair Overeem, as they should. Combat sports fans love a great heavyweight collision. Shane Carwin vs. Brock Lesnar is evident of that. Once casual fans get themselves familiar with Overeem, I can imagine the excitement boiling over to intense levels as the fight grows closer.

Now I think it is fair to point out the controversy that has surrounded the fight in the last week. Overeem has had issues getting his proper drug testing done and has only been conditionally licensed for the fight. If Overeem fails to meet the commission specifics regarding drug testing, this fight could fall apart at the last minute. With the UFC already losing Jones vs. Evans and Diaz vs. GSP this year, the loss of this fight could be huge financially for the company’s bottom line in 2011.

One of the more interesting quotes comes from the former Strikeforce heavyweight champion Overeem. Overeem guarantees that he will knock out Brock Lesnar in the second round. Quite frankly, I think that is very safe bet. Not that I want to get too much into previewing the fight right now, but Lesnar is going to have his hands full with Overeem’s striking. If Lesnar can’t take Overeem to the ground, this one could get ugly for the former WWE and UFC champion.

If you guys think Cain Velasquez hits hard, wait until you see what I am going to do him.

I don’t know about you but the more I see from these two guys, the more I cannot wait until December 30.
