Let’s go back 10, 000 years in time.
You would be surprised to know that this series adapted from Frank Herbert’s Dune was announced way back in June 2019, even before the theatrical release of Dune took place. Ever since then, not a lot of information has surfaced however it was reported that Denis Villeneuve, the director of Dune will be helming the series.
That too however changed over time just like the many speculations that were made about the series. Even at this point, not much has been revealed about the series and the series itself faced many delays and dangers of getting canceled however it seems that it will be coming soon.
Here is everything we know about Dune: The Sisterhood so far:
What is Dune About?
Dune was adapted from Frank Herbert’s fiction books and just like the books, Dune portrayed the world set in a distant future which housed a feudal interstellar society where many nobles were in control and powers passed down through the lineage.
The movie followed the story of Paul Atreides who arrives on the planet Arrakis after his father accepted the stewardship of the planet. Paul then travels the planet to ensure the future of his family and people while also walking down the path of greatness.
The Plot of Dune: The Sisterhood
The series has been claimed to be a prequel to the events of 2021’s Dune and will be set 10, 000 long years before the events that took place in the movie. The series will not tell the stories of the main characters of the movie but instead, focus more on the lore part of the novel.
Just like the series’ name, the plot will revolve around Bene Gesserit, which is a sisterhood comprising of women of the universe of the Novel who house incredible magical powers inside them. The series will reportedly feature the origins of the group which was never even mentioned in the novels.
On Instagram, @johanrenck posted this piece of art by @markzug and said: "A visit to Wallach IX is way overdue 🖤." So it's safe to say that we will see that world in the Dune: The Sisterhood series. #Dune pic.twitter.com/hYsm4WZaSW

Dune: The Sisterhood Cast
Almost everything about the prequel series has been kept under wraps ever since it was announced and we don’t even know what characters could appear. However, speculations say that since the story of the series dates way back from the movie, it is pretty obvious that the characters from the movie won’t be making any appearance.
However, it is worth noting that Paul’s mother Lady Jessica portrayed by Rebecca Ferguson was a member of Bene Gesserit so we can expect to see a younger version of her in the series.
Dune: The Sisterhood Release Date and Trailer
As of now neither any glimpse of the series has been revealed nor a release date has been confirmed. It has been confirmed that Chernobyl director Johan Renck will be directing the first two episodes of the series.
We can expect some news about the series sometime this year and the series could drop by the end of 2022 or the beginning of 2023.
